They have started reframing this building already... Foundation must be good.

Read the comments for differing opinions. I love my SLC, but I don't love more taxes and public/private "deals"...
Reading those comments, man...

How about something like this for the CCH design?

That's purdy. I really like the green space/patio/garden on the roof. I'd love to see that component, both as a resident of the city and as a convention-goer. I do think some kind of curve or angle or not-box would be good for the tower, but as shiny boxes go, that's groovy.

I love these designs, but we're just setting ourselves up for disappointment.

Even though I read the warning, I started to dive into the reader comments on the Tribune article about the CCH. I saw Makid at the top correcting people (well done) then I read the previous post and that guy was an idiot, at that point I decided I needed to stop right there or I would end up pissed off doing this

As much as I like this building I agree that its time for another tower with some curve, angle or interesting crown features in the skyline. I have always wished the Regent was 200' taller. Can you imagine how sweet it would look!: That said I would still be VERY happy if we got something as nice as the pic from Atlas.

Good to see Makid representing! Seems like no matter what proposal is put forth there will always be a group (largely uninformed for the most part) that will oppose it.

I like that too Atlas. Maybe a few curves on the tower here and there to add variety of the skyline, but I wouldn't be at all disappointed with that type of massing and design.

I'm also thinking the base of the tower with the same curved effect of the library or Pubic Safety Bldg. would be outstanding.

I do try to educate people but some just refuse to learn or understand. I do enjoy reading them though as it is fun to see what other people think.

Would be awesome for sure. Try jumping on the Wrendog bandwagon.
It's called the Phoenix Syndrome.

The bill that would get rid of the "Zion Wall/Curtain" that hides away evil evil mixing of drinks from patrons barely advanced out of committee yesterday with an 8-7 vote; it's going to the House floor for debate and a vote: http://www.cityweekly.net/utah/blog-25-1...tter-down-zion-walls-in-restaurants.html

I do think getting rid of the walls would be a good thing for tourism and conventions and regular people who live and work in SLC; not expecting legislators to see it that way.

Probably not development news, but since it involves the mayor, you never know.

I'm surprised it even made it out of committee. While I doubt it will pass the house or the senate at least getting out of committee is a first step, maybe the next step will occur next session.

Buying and MLB team and moving it to the Granary District? That would be HUGE development related news. But probably not.

Maybe an arena lobby expansion? Not sure why that would involve the mayor though.

Maybe LHM Companies are getting into the Hotel development business. CCH? But that wouldn't have anything to do with Jody Genessy.

So many options running through my mind.

It's a new ballpark sponsor.

Haha. Lame.

I'd be excited if Delta Center got its name back.

I was hoping for a new stadium closer to downtown. Keep dreaming.
