Excuse me for being Politically Incorrect here, but I have to be honest with myself and say that I just can't "dig" this project, no matter how hard I try.
The TELUS HQ building just isn't tall enough, and those boxes on all sides are busy and excessive. It needs at least 10 floors more.
The residential building in the renders has an awkward, boxy quality to it that I feel I'm supposed to like, but I just can't.
Overall, an interesting project, with some features I really do like, like the curving canopy. Yet somehow, the anticipation I feel watching the MNP Tower going up is totally, completely lacking here, speaking personally.

The building was a a huge disappointment in my opinion. Should have been at least 160 meters tall.

I'm currently travelling through Scandinavia and I must say that the Telus Garden office-portion reminds of many very well designed European office blocks, the massing, size and scale is typical of office towers here in Europe, they tend to be more rectangular in scale rather than tall and slim and it works exceptionally well over here. I think the finished product will impress as the glazing and materials are well chosen and of high quality.

Back on topic, does anybody know how much of the commercial tower Telus will be occupying? I was surprised to hear they are still holding on to the boot.

Maybe that old building on 6th in New West will move downtown.

It wasn't phrased as an opinion; it was phrased as an ad hominem attack.

This is an opinion: "I don't think it's possible for you to adequately judge the building from a distance."

In any case, I can confirm that the building looks pretty much the same in person as it does in those photos, so it's possible for a reasonable person to judge it from half-way across the globe.

Bet his location wasn't such a problem when he was giving high praise - inexplicably - for some other projects here. Disappointed in this ad-hominem abuse of mod location-tracking powers.

That said, I find it extremely silly when people feel that a building must add or subtract a number of stories to meet a "desirable" proportion. What's wrong with a box? This project has never been about a "tower".

I'm looking forward to seeing this top out so that the overall massing becomes clear. The fins are a surprise, but look to be of good quality.
