I wonder if PCL has the contract for the parkade...which I thought was a differant contract than the arena.

It wouldn't make sense to have it as a separate contract, as they are part of the same overall structure.

No - there are 3 separate underground parking builds: but I can't read the numbers from the piss poor picture:

http://www.edmonton.ca/city_government/projects_redevelopment/arena-transportation.aspx

1. the arena states 350 stalls
2. — looks like 150?
3. — looks like 1000+?

Anyone with good eyes or a better monitor can read the legend: items 18,29,20

Got to se some working Drawings Yesterday. The place looks great and a lot bigger than i was expecting. As for Photos my wife goes back to work next week so I should be able to get regular shots of RAM, COE and Rogers.

Does anyone know is there will be a cam set up so that one can watch it all happen just like the Museum . It is such an exiting time for Edmonton and i think it is just the beginning of the transformation of downtown.

I can hardly wait to see the official groundbreaking. Congrats, Edmonton. This world-class arena is a huge game-changer for downtown.

Listening to CBC this morning. Excavation begins Saturday and we will see 300 trucks a day for the duration of the dig.
They come in off 101st and exit 104 ave. wonder where they are dumping it.

Blatchford? Could add to the hill proposed for the north side of the airport!

That would be thinking...and would only work if City Planners thought that far in advance and had plans and contract in place. Given the brain trust at City Hall - what are the odds of that happening?

This chap has set up a poor-man's site webcam from his office. It's not great, but it's better than nothing?

http://www.denis.lemire.name/yegarena/

I'll try to drop by the site with my camera regularly (along with my regular stops at KR, Ultima, and Fox, and soon to be added CoE Tower).

As for a webcam, the Katz Group are in the Bell tower so I'm sure they could set something up there.

LEED yup.

Just back from the arena community benefit meeting. Recap and update of construction moving forward.

A truck every 2min for a month to excavate.

Steel by sept.

Interiors by may 15'

Ready for a couple pre-hockey events to test er out.

Parking impacts the majority of the discussion, mostly to the north but we also brought up whether 6pm free will continue... Tbd. Event parking tbd. More to come.

Norquest and the oilers community foundation to establish a Hospitality Institute to train, certify and connect folks to the hospitality industry locally, regionally and provincially. The oilers will also sponsor a specialized lab/classroom. Goal is 1000 students over ten years... If not more. Expect more partners. Great feature is that there will be bursary opportunities.

Norquest was going to be in the ground for their north learning centre mid to late this year, now march 15' due to budget and documents.
