I know it's too early to judge, but I'm not sure I dig the sheer amount of different glass styles. At this moment, I'm kind of worried the final building is going to look very uncohesive.
With only three and a half more floors (plus solar panels) to go before it reaches the city's maximum allowable height, Telus will totally fail to block the view of BC Place.

i'm finding the building is getting really fussy. with all the different glass, protruding boxes here and there, the sun louvres, operable windows, it's all bit much.
I'll wait until it's done but man, there's a lot going on for a stubby building.
You should take a shot of the NE view before the residential tower goes up.
We only have part of the floor, so the window frame on the right of the pic is the farthest south our view goes... OD will have to provide updates on the residential tower.
In the words of the architect, the cubes are meant to be "cantilevered 4-storey sky gardens." In other words, they're silly add-on elements meant to create "visual interest" and reflect Vancouver's so-called "green" culture. You'll notice that several towers in Vancouver have protruding boxes (e.g., Shangri-La), though none as prominent as this. In my opinion, I think they're ugly, tacky, unoriginal, and detract from the uniformity of the buildings.
Not too mention stealth intrusion into the public realm. I wonder how receptive the city would be if I wanted to build a box off my house over the sidewalk. I promise I'll put my Xmas tree in it.
I think this building is going to turn out to be amazing when completed. I walk by it everyday and can't wait for the finished product. This whole block is going to look great if/when the offic tower next to scotia tower is topped out. Is there still going to be the projection screen on the protruding box?
I recall that the boxes which protrude above the sidewalk are not supposed to contain commercial uses, so some sort of publicly observable use is likely. What that looks like in practice is beyond me, but a fair guess is that there will be trees/some sort of sky garden.
