Well that and it's font, but there's not much to be done about corporate branding.

I had to load it on my phone, something wrong with the desktop site not showing the image. It's nothing worth seeing to be honest anyway. My favorite building in the city is about to get a tacky sign plastered on the side of it.

TRUMP sign coming to Trump. It's big but looks nice and adds a little more life to the river corridor
^From here.

I hope the "T" lighting goes out and makes old ladies complain that their grandchildren are being subjected foul language!

The man is universally hated. If anything this will denture people from wanting to go here. I'm offering my photoshopping services to any photographer on this site who takes pictures of the river and want's this atrocity removed.

You know, here's my take: It's — and I hate that Trump wants to do this.

But I recommend that Chicago approve it as it is pictured above. Why? Because we could potentially dodge a bullet here, and Trump could change his mind and ask for an even more gaudy and obnoxious sign than the one depicted above.

Actually I'm looking at it again and to hell with that. The city should reject the application. It just ruins the building...

A community meeting on the proposed new Jewel Osco and residential projects at Clark & Division

The subject of the meeting is the development of 1210 N. Clark Street (NW corner of Clark & Division) and 1201 N. Clark Street (NE corner of Clark & Division). Representatives of the developers and site owners will give presentations and will be available for questions. The project team has invited Ald. Robert Fioretti to join the meeting.

WHEN
This Monday, February 24, 2014
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

WHERE
Thompson Hotel
21 East Bellevue Place (across from Gibson's)
Chicago, Illinois 60611

PROJECT NOTES
1210 N. Clark Street (and to LaSalle St.):
A proposal to redevelop the Jewel-Osco store and surface parking lot into a new, flagship Jewel-Osco grocery store, plus a 37-story residential apartment building on the corner of LaSalle and Division. Parking would be on the roof of the new grocery store. For additional information, please visit the project website at http://www.goldcoastjewel.com

1201 N. Clark Street:
A proposed building renovation and addition at the NE corner of Clark & Division. The site currently contains a 4-story commercial building. The proposal includes plans for a 5-story addition, and a conversion of the building to residential with retail on the ground floor.

Both projects are located within Planned Development No. 157.
The proposed addition and conversion of 1201 is new to me, don't recall ever hearing about that before.

What the —?! Is this an Onion article??? God. The bad just keeps getting badder. :/

Trump Tower: the second worse thing to happen to the City of Chicago since the fire. Worse than the race riots, 1968, and all natural disasters combine.

Angry

I can't stop looking at that picture and hoping it's a joke. If I didn't absolutely hate that building before, I definitely do now. Good god.

Even though those are certainly reasonable objections I don't think they are even the best objections. The color scheme of the signage actually seems to be rather well done (if one HAD to have signage). What is far more worrisome is the plans to light up it with LED lighting so that it glows like a Christmas Tree at night along the river. I know there is precedent for signage along the Wacker buildings but perhaps the Genie needs to be put back in the bottle.

River boat and foot traffic is likely only to increase in the next 5-10 years and so will temptation and fights by companies to try to use he river corridor as one big marketing and advertising template.

It would be amusing if the city refused to prosecute those guys unless Trump withdrew his plan to add the sign

The font screams "Vegas casino" instead of upscale hotel.

I'm assuming Tungsten meant how the building represents Donald "Douchebag" Trump.

Exactly. Why would you think I would think wealth in the heart of the city is a bad thing, tup? Like all of his buildings, I can only think of his ridiculous hair first, and then the building. But hey, he loves the publicity either good or bad, so he would just be laughing about these posts anyway.
