Dupont Circle becomes a snowy sculpture garden

Following DC's big snow yesterday, Washingtonians filled Dupont Circle with literally dozens of snowmen and other snow sculptures. Here are some photos I snapped with my cellphone, showing only a sample of the many creations.

Washington Monument:

Olympic figure skater:

US Capitol:

Woman giving birth:

Basically what the whole circle looked like. A snow sculpture every 30 feet.

Not sure what's going on here. Not sure I want to.

Sphinx:

Barack Obama, aka Snowbama:

A 2nd Washington Monument:

A man and his igloo:

Mickey, I think:

Hipster:

Traditional snowman:

Grumpy cat:

Initials:

Snowdog:

A failed attempt at structural integrity:

They should've given this one polar bear ears:

Well-sculpted face:

Sassy?

Sailor:

Pig:

Whale:

Bye from DC!

Brilliant sculptures in the snow! A funny moment in the daily life. Thanks for sharing, Cirrus.

You got a nice snowfall in DC, despite the problems it caused.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain.

Lol! I saw this on CNN yesterday morning. It's always cool to see these day-in-the-life events, and I like how the residents treat the circle as a community space or even a front yard. There are so many publics spaces which end up being public in name only, because so few neighbors actually take advantage of them.

Wow, this brings back memories.

I loved hanging in Dupont Circle back in the day. Relaxing on a bench, playing chess with the homeless, getting drunk at that bookstore/bar place (forgot what it's called)
