Phase 3 definitely looks better than phases 1 and 2. It'll be exciting to see how the NCC alters the long term plans for Lebreton aka Pimisi (http://goo.gl/1ycfsT). Hopefully they'll bring some stores or restaurants to the area.

I would love to see a stairway that directly connects Pooley Bridge to the park at the foot of Queen Street (Beside the Queen Juliana building). Maybe something like the ones they have in Quebec city.

Although there are ways of getting up and down, I think something visible and straightforward will do a lot to encourage movement between Centretown and Lebreton Flats.

Why not go with an elevator system similar to the Funicular in Quebec to go from Upper to Lower Ottawa

I agree. The Flats need some visible pedestrian connections to centretown. Drab and functional won't do. You need something that creates a sense of entrance.
Height changes do present an accessibility challenge so stairs alone probably won't do, but if you add the ramps in the right way you could support cyclists while you make it accessible.

I spoke with the salesperson last summer, and I believe it'll be a beige brick this time. They have a sample hanging on the wall of the sales centre, if I recall correctly. The salesperson was pretty adamant in saying it wasn't going to be like the previous buildings - I'm assuming they received complaints

Just an update on the brick...

Keep in mind I saw it from the Transitway (LeBretton station) and the sun was going down, but it looked like the brick on the "cylindrical quadrant" portion of the building was a greyish brown - something like this:

Last winter I went to a conference at the war Museum and, as I walked down from the LeBreton transitway station, I thought Fusion looked really depressing, stuck out in windswept fields a long way from anywhere. It seems to me the nearest retail mist be close to a mile from the condos.

It truly is depressing. As for retail, I'm sure a Shoppers will sprout up their one day.

I was at LeBreton station this morning waiting for a bus and I had to do a double take before I took that photo because I thought it was dirty wet concrete. The brick swatch must have been a greasy garage floor.
