That is curious because now the Mayor's Office itinerary shows nothing going on tomorrow.

Are you sure you weren't accidentally looking at 2/11 and 2/12? These two combined seem to state the same (new tech company and major development). Which would be a bummer

I also see a blank on the calendar for tomorrow but the times and locations of the 2/11 and 2/12 events don't match the times and locations Sayitaintso listed. That's promising.

The only announcement made on the 11th was Blumenfeld's DE Waterfront plans. Could this be it? Was the mayor in on this?

When the pop-up comes up, click "use access code"

under "access code", enter "V77N".

under "create your account", enter fake email address, the same password twice, and any zip code you want. Click "start free trial" and read all about it.

Doesn't work for me (at least in Chrome). Also, as I said above, the link to the story doesn't work on the Inquirer home page. Could be that they're not yet ready to post the finished story.

Family court Kimpton hotel

^I just went to philly(dot)com #haha

Quote:
In another major project for the Logan Square neighborhood, Mayor Nutter is expected to announce Tuesday that Kimpton Hotels will open a luxury hotel in the current Family Court building at 1801 Vine Street, according to people familiar with the project.

Kimpton is aligned with Peebles Corp. of New York City and local developers P&A Associates.

The Kimpton group was one of three that submitted proposals for converting the historic, 73-year-old building into an hotel.

R. Donahue Peebles, founder of Peebles Corp., could not be reached for comment Monday.

In an earlier interview, he said the project would cost about $85 million. It would include 199 rooms, a 3,500-square-foot ballroom, meeting and board rooms, a spa and fitness center, and restaurant and bar.

The local partner in the project - P&A Associates - is best known for developing the Murano condominiums at 21st and Market Streets as well as the St. James luxury rental apartment house on Washington Square.

The Family Court building, which is owned by the city, is located next door to the Free Library. Currently, only Juvenile Court operates from the building. But those courtrooms will soon move to a new Family Court location at 15th and Arch Streets.

With the recent addition of the Barnes Foundation on Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the new Mormon temple going up across the street from Family Court, the Logan Square area is witnessing increased development activity.

Last week, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also announced plans to build a high-rise residential tower in the area.

Two other groups had competed for the Family Court project: one aligned with developer Ken Goldenberg and the other with developer Carl Dranoff.

The exterior of Family Court has been under the protection of the city's historical commission since 1971. Much of the interior, including all 37 murals, plus many lighting fixtures and other details like handrails and duct grilles, was designated only in 2011 as historically significant.

The Kimpton group would be required to protect the historical features of the building.
