Jason Gregor tweeted out a few things regarding seats in the new arena:

- All seats will have a minimum 19" width (1" more than at Rexall).
- 1,000 seats will have 21" width
- Lower bowl will be about 4,000 more seats than at Rexall

The UofA has an RFP on the street for a road right through it to 122 out right now.

Are there anymore details regarding the new high rise properties that are proposed along side the arena? Or are they just pipe dreams at this point?

^ City of Edmonton will be leasing space in one of the towers and Stantec is rumoured to be the anchor tenant for the other office tower. Nothing public, it seems, on the rest.

Also a likely hotel tower announcement within 6 months, accompanied by some retail.

Have not seen some of these before.

Notice the 2 slender tapering towers in this one

They forgot to include Ultima.
A fun game to play is guess which tower will be a hotel, a condo or an office.

Taller tapered grey ones are residential I believe, hotel just south of arena, office x 2 on 101st/104ave.

I would have guessed that the hotel would be the building east of the arena, which was supposedly including a new Baccarat casino.

New Casino would likely include a hotel portion in the base of the office tower I believe.

That does not make a whole lot of sense to me...a large corporate tenant with a casino on its lobby level??? Would not the casino be better off adjacent to retail and links to the hotel?? Cold perhaps I misunderstand what you are saying.

From these renderings I do not see room for a new Macys or other large dept store. I would have thought it would have been the most likely location to build new and part of this development. Surely WAM has approached Macys, Holts, Simmons or Ogilvies???

The main floor and second floor retail is around 175,000 sqft or so, more than enough for many large retailers, but the focus is on food/bev/entertainment.

The Casino was to go on the main of the 101-102st north of 104ave site all along. I suspect the tower will be hotel with office above and a casino attached, but that the office would have a separate lobby.

Seeing how the arenas are lit up in Sochi has there been any thought given to exterior LED lighting for scores advertising etc?
Would be pretty cool for the aerial shots

Like "Rogers" all over it...not sure taxpayers would agree to fund it. Sochi is one thing but Katz would use it for ad revenues. Not exactly the sight I would want to see from a condo at Fox or Icon towers...

So, all of this to be built while losing only three single-storey buildings.

Dang...104 Street will be unrecognizable.
