I still think the next step after should be a Hastings Line to Willington Ave, which would eventually be extended down to Metrotown. Would service a major east-west corridor in Vancouver (including PNE access), as well as a major north-south corridor in Burnaby, including BCIT. You could also have a transfer point at or near the PNE where a future North Shore BRT could originate from.
It would also further alleviate pressure on Main St./Columbia as a transfer point from Evergreen to get downtown, as well as serve as a redundant system should a portion of the line fail.
After that I'd argue for extending the Evergreen line into Maple Ridge. From there it would be more capacity upgrades for the various lines and more rapid rail implementation for places like Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and even Hope.
