Ooh, ooh, add Sears Tower and Burj Khalifa! Per Cirrus' instructions, we need to find some mountain west common ground. Starting with our sheer planetary insignificance might be a good starting point.

We Salt Lake Folk aren't having a huffy huff. We are just sick of being undermined by the likes of Denver. Imagine if Salt Lake treated Boise this way, putting SLC skyscrapers in the Boise skyline (Which I did once, but it was meant as an optimistic outlook for Boise's future) and treating Boise like it's a back woods ski town. A lot of these posts are very condescending. I know you guys are joking, but it can rub off the wrong way.

Anyway, let's try to end here because "we're no fun", and go back to talking about random ass stuff.

Yuck. Some of those buildings don't even help the skyline, in fact it makes it worst. Can we take the Spire and the four seasons?

As for your tallest skyscrapers from the 80's.......no thanks. They're boring to look at. IMHO

Also It would seem that Salt Lake has been keeping up with Denver since 2009 in terms of having new towers added. SLC could be adding three more within the next two/three years.

Ohhhhhhh stop. We're joking around. If Seattle did this to Denver, or any other larger city for that matter, we would just laugh it off. It's not meant to be serious one bit and sorry if it rubs you the wrong way. It's a, I've had a couple beers, I'm comfortable at home, and I just want to poke fun kind of night. Sheesh

One day, I'll photoshop SLC, Denver, and Boise together and we can all be a huge happy Mountain West skyline. It'll be beautiful.

All in all, lighten up. SLC and Boise are both beautiful cities and you should be very proud of what you have going on there!

Denver has one of the ugliest skylines in the U.S.

Eh, towers or not, it all depends on what you're doing at the street level mate. You can have a pretty skyline and an awful city, like Denver in the late 80's. Or you can have an AMAZING city with no skyline, like Barcelona. Tower battles are not the battles cities should be choosing. Towers are nice, but they don't mean everything.

I agree. Street engagement is the most important. I'm not even interested in SLC having towers over 25-30 stories, unlike most people on this forum. They'll just block views of the mountains, which are right in the city, not 2 hours away.

This year's spike in auto-pedestrian collisions is deadly serious, Denver police say, regardless of whether it's a statistical anomaly or an early sign of a long-term problem.

Denver's auto-pedestrian accidents were up 46 percent for the first eight weeks of 2013 over the previous two years. Another grim statistic also stands out: Last year, the city had 13 hit-and-run fatalities, more than the previous three years combined.

18 mins is closer than I thought Denver was to the mountains. That's basically the same distance Salt Lake International is from the mouth of Parley's canyon. Isn't DIA somewhere in Kansas?

Denver is 2.5 hours to the nearest ski resort, while SLC is 25 minutes. I'm surprised the mountains are actually that close because every time I've been to Denver, the mountains look like little ridges far away off in the horizon. Photographic lenses can make them look closer. I'm guessing that's what they did there.

B on your map isn't the mountains. That is some tiny foothills.

In Salt Lake developers call anything over five stories A "tower".

We're holding high hopes that our Convention Center Hotel will be our new tallest at least 30-stories and 430FT. But yea, SLC is way pass due for a 40-story.

Right, Parley's Canyon is actually 15 minutes from the SL International Airport, IF you're going the speed limit.

Your lack of research is getting really annoying. Try again.. We have plenty of resorts that are well within an hour from Denver. Also, we don't NEED to escape to the mountains since we have a city that can entertain us too. The mountains are a nice amenity but they're not something we need to sell Denver with. Denver does fine on its own.
