The Met is a few blocks away - Moda is the one on Beresford to the east of Metroplace.

I was driving home today along the SFPR and as you enter the Tilbury area you get a great view of Metrotown and the high rises (plus the ones under construction). It is looking better and better every day and when you see the new ones next to those built around Patterson, it is night and day. There are still 5 or 6 large gaps along the stretch but if they fill those gaps, from South of Fraser, Metrotown will have a really good "downtown skyline" look to it.

The height is also actually quite impressive. You get a different perspective than downtown Vancouver. As beautiful as the mountains are and scenery around downtown Vancouver, it all makes downtown actually look smaller than it actually is. I don't mean building count wise but height wise.

From the South Delta flats and bog area you don't see much of the north shore mountains looking towards Metrotown and as it is poised on the top of a massive plateau (300feet+ above sea level), the buildings to me look taller than I know they are.

It's turning out quite impressive. That's also something I don't think Brentwood will ever have. It may have the 60 floor towers and get more dense, but it is in a giant bowl and doesn't have the same prominence to me from a regional standpoint. To me it is like looking at Bellevue from Seattle. Bellevue is not that big but because of its prominence on the horizon and the fact towers are stacked together with no gaps, it looks impressive to me from many vantage points. Same with Metrotown. It is starting to look more and impressive and not like Surrey currently does, with some nice looking towers but giant gaps between each one or sets.

Yeah even from the north Brentwood is invisible and Metrotown now looks at least on par with downtown. I've let out some audible "ooooo's" when I get a peek of it from Grand Blvd and other parts further east. Downtown is something I see every time I step outside and looks beautiful but it will forever be a somewhat stumpy city.

I'm upset new wheat elevators will block the view from the new low level road (our sfpr equivalent) since it would've been fantastic now that it's above the train tracks.

Thanks for this and the April 18 update. Looks like the paneling is trying to live up to the name of the tower. I hope they pull it off - it's difficult to recall a contemporary tower with such a small proportion of glass.
