I spent one night and two glorious days in Seattle January 19 and 20, 2013. It was my second visit to Seattle, first one as a photographer and as someone old enough to legally check into a hotel. It was the perfect trip.
Fast forward one year. Same day, same time, same weather. Only this time, the city is
alive. There is an energy in the air, and that energy came from the NFC Championship between the 49ers and the Seahawks. Flags hung from the roofs of office buildings. Buses and signs and those giant flashing billboards on the side of the road that car dealerships have all flashed variations of the phrase GO HAWKS. The streets were packed with both Seahawks and Niners fans bustling to and from different bars and parties before the big game. The streets were bursting with red and gold and green and blue. Of course, we all know the outcome of that day now. But, for two brief days, the whole coast was on edge as two great cities went to war.
Me? I didn't have tickets. I booked the trip before the Niners won the divisional. I wanted to go because I missed an opportunity for an amazing shot last year during sunset. I also wanted to go because it was a three day weekend. Sure, I fell behind in studio work. It happens. Doesn't matter much to me; I had a great weekend actually experiencing architecture instead of just mindlessly drawing it on pieces of paper. While this trip didn't feel as fun or exciting as the 2013 trip, it was special in its own way. My camera might've been nearing the end of its life, but if this trip was to be its last, my camera will have ended by taking perhaps a few of the best photos I've ever captured. Enough of my words; you did not click this title to see mere
words! To the photos!
