Those pictures of the flyovers in the Montreal are absolutely deplorable. Makes Canada look like a third world country. Can't even compare them to beauties like this
I drove this interchange and few others in Houston area a month ago. Although I hated every bit of how car-dependent the whole city is, their freeways were amazing, especially Katy Freeway. Had to drive it just for the sake of having done it.

Detroit's freeways are in better condition than Montreal's. Mtl had a few potholes on the freeways when I was there earlier this month!

I think there is something to be said that during the heyday of Toronto's transportation expansion during the 1960s and early 70s, the city and province were simultaneously building both subways and twelve lane freeways.

They are disgusting and honestly a very embarrassing feature. I'm eager for them to be torn down - which is supposed to happen within the next 5 years.
Love the idea of tall, sophisticated stacks but Quebec is just too poorly managed & its climate far too hostile for this type of arrangement.
As far big, jumbled stack interchanges go in Canada, I believe Montreal is the winner...
The Turcot interchange is indeed quite impressive, no doubt it claims the stack interchange title, but the most impressive spaghetti junction title of Canada definitely belongs to the 409 where its ends at the airport;
I know car culture is bad and not sustainable (at least if we keep using fuel) but damn I love highways and I love driving.
Those pics of the 427/401/409 interchange make me proud to be from Toronto. Life seems to be taking me from city to city in Canada, and hopefully eventually all over the world, but I will always have a special bias towards Toronto. One of my favourite things to do is to drive the urban highways. Being able to drive for over an hour and still be in an urban area is incredible. It's the thing that bothers me the most about mid-size cities; drive 15 min and you're in the country again.
One place I don't mind getting stuck in traffic is the ramp going off the 427 on to the QEW cause it gives me some time to soak in the views. On the right you get a great view of Mississauga and on the left a great view of Toronto!
I love how they landscaped around the roads at Pearson. It looks so inviting but probably not a safe or enjoyable place for a stroll.
I love elevated roadways, even if they're only ramps. Hate what they represent and all that... but it's just fun to drive. TO's and Montreal's are both great.

This view reminds me the one we have when we are looking east from Hwy 15 between decarie and Champlain Bridge.

Just for comparisons sake and maybe a little comic relief, here's Vancouver's largest "stack" interchange. It's the crossing of the newly opened Highway 17 and Highway 99 in Delta.
