I volunteer at Primary Children's hospital and drove by the new Ronald McDonald house today and noticed how far they have gotten! I was going to take a picture but the light turned green... maybe next time. Anyway I remember awhile back some people complained about the look of it but I disagree thinking the columns in the front match really nicely with The Avenues.

One of the great joys I've had as a dad is walking around downtown with my sons (currently 9 and 11), and telling them about projects that are in the works. Maybe they glaze over, but I'm their dad, so they're a captive audience. And every now and then, they'll ask me when we're going downtown to "go on a walk" again. It's fun.

I had an opposite reaction, lol. But, I do think that must be permanent. It would seem really stupid to re-engrave the wall every 4-8 years.

It will be there permanently. They put the name of the sitting president on a lot, if not all, federal buildings at the time they are built.

I've always felt the building could possibly turn out great. It would be wonderful to see an updated pic. Last forumer to notice said it was completely wrapped in plastic at the time.

Hyatt accross from ESA



There have been some questions regarding the renderings posted at the hotel sites. This is the rendering of the Hyatt, which is the building currently under construction. It runs north/south along 300 W and to the corner of 100 S (aka Karl Malone Drive, aka Japantown Street). Appears to be 6 stories



And this is the rendering of the Coutryar Marriott, which will run east/west along 100 S, also appears to be 6 stories

Also: As being someone who is in direct contact with the Ballpark lofts/Parkfield Apartments (1380 S. West Temple) The project is going through a bit of a revamp. The partners have decided to make some design changes to it. So dont expect it to break ground anytime soon, until they hammer out the design changes. But, I can assure you that it is being worked on.

I LOVE the design of Seasons at Library Square. What a great addition to that neighborhood.

I'm really looking forward of seeing 151 renamed 145 breaking ground. Maybe once the parking garage behind the site is finish? With any luck we might see both 111 south main and 145 state rising around the same time. Both those towers are going to really help fill in that gap that's in the middle of the skyline.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they'd have to finish the parking garage before they start work on 145/151. Although they're really moving quickly on the garage, so we'll see, I guess.

222 was built and completed before its parking garage was built.

Oh yeah, I know--this is two separate projects side by side--I don't know if one needs the other as a staging area. I'd love 145 to start construction tomorrow if it could--I'm just anticipating that the one will finish first. I'd love them to be working simultaneously.

The Boyer Co. will definitely not be starting work tomorrow on 145 S. State Street. They are requesting Conditional Building and Site Design from the Planning Commission right now. The public hearing will be in probably 4 to 6 weeks. The reason they have to go to a hearing is because they are requesting additional height on a mid-block building. The proposed building is 20 stories at 295'. It should not be an issue getting an approval. They would then apply for a building permit which on a project this large takes a few months to get a approved. They are working on the garage now because it will serve the former Questar building on 200 East.

There certainly will be a lot of projects to keep up with this Spring/Summer. One of the many I'm anxious to see completed will be this one on 600 W. N. Temple. The materials, and an added mural should make for an attractive building for that location.

Mixed use, residential and retail. The mural in the rendering is just an example, that will not be the mural on the building.

Wow, 151/145 just keeps getting taller and taller. First 9 stories, then 14, then 18, now 20. I'm not used of seeing proposals getting taller, for the most part it's the other way around of buildings getting shorter. I really hope this development pans out.
Even at 18-stories my guess was between 270FT-300FT since looking at the tower the ceiling height looks taller then the office building next to it, and since the Zions Bank Tower is 18-stories and at 265FT and 222 South main is 21-stories at around 313FT I was placing this tower between those two towers. 295FT should for sure make an impact to the skyline from most views.
So if you were to guess on a timetable for this tower, would you say that if all goes smooth then could we see this development breaking ground say Summer?....Fall?

Exciting news! With 145/151 and 111, the area is really going to be awesome when this is all complete. Actually it will be cool even during construction.

Now if they can find a way to build a skyrise on the site of that awful Carl's Jr. location. That corner is just screaming for a skyrise. Especially now with the LaPorte going up.

Makes me wonder now that if Boyer Company is confident enough to develop a 20-story office tower at around the same time as Hamilton Partners with their 24-story office tower that maybe the developers ( LDS Church? ) who are planing on developing tower 8 that is around 20-stories also may have somewhat more confidence in themselves knowing that maybe there really is enough demand for new office space downtown that calls on multiple office towers.
