It looks like the Pittsburgh MSA finished 2013 reasonably well in terms of jobs growth:
http://www.bls.gov/eag/eag.pa_pittsburgh_msa.htm
The preliminary report is that year-over-year jobs were up 14,200 (+1.2%), which is not bad--jobs growth was a bit stronger in some prior months, but weaker earlier in 2013, and nationally and statewide December was relatively weak. In fact Pennsylvania was only up 19,000 (+0.3%) in December yoy, so a huge portion of the state's job growth was concentrated in the Pittsburgh MSA.
The industry-specific patterns were largely the same as they have been recently (e.g. mining looks good percentage-wise but it is still being dwarfed by white-collar stuff in gross terms, government employment losses are still a significant drag, and so on).
