Some updates from Friday afternoon

The Prescott

Still not sure if that's wood on the bottom of the balconies but clearly they aren't gonna do the other ones.

Thanks for all the updates, in this thread and the others. I think I'm in love with the podium of The Prescott.

Thanks.
That Prescott podium is pretty slick.
It's nice they provided space for the tenant logo

That lot was just a gas station previously. The old Safeway across 13th and the new City Market (formerly Extra Foods) on 17th are the only grocery stores in the area.

Blue Shore/North Shore's original HQ was on 3rd and Lonsdale, so they're slowly creeping up the hill with each new building.

Day 1 that was NorthShore/BlueShore Credit Union new head office. - they own the podium space

there is a yet to be named tenant that will be taking over Blueshore' old space once they vacate, my understanding they will be taking most of the building.

Not that I don't believe you but where did you hear/read this?

Can't wait for my wife to bring home a $20 cup of chicken salad every few days!

edit: yeah there's zero mention of this online, even on twitter.

Current employees of the company are posting about it on facebook, so I figure it's fair game for public forums such as this one to know. The lease has been signed, but a press release has not been issued just yet I suppose.

It'll be interesting to see how CityMarket fairs when this wfm location opens up.

Well they're different markets and with all the development you probably will see both do okay. Whole Foods will draw from outside Lonsdale while CityMarket will appeal to the lower-end (even if they pretend that they are high end)

Still can't see anything about North Vancouver. They confirmed North Burnaby...

Burnaby has been confirmed for quite some time now, as we know. The Lonsdale store was just announced within the company to employees today, but I'm sure a press release will go out very soon.

Large impressive presentation for The Pier waterfront space at city hall today. I'm thrilled the city is thinking at this Granville Island scale. Looks warm, smart, and bold. Huge skating rink, little store fronts ala granville island, spirit trail tie ins, trees and sitting areas everywhere. The presentation also encompases the exit of the seabus area, the sad park to the west, and up lonsdale to third.

The big ideas are a huge skating rink, mix of restaurants, prominent anchors, artists, and stores and the area opening until 9pm so people know where to go in the evening. I really like it. It doesn't say "this is an idea for North Vancouver", it says "this makes North Vancouver a destination spot, but still stays true to North Vancouver". Also tourists at Canada Line look across the water and say 'what is happening over there, lets check it out'. Also it looks doable. It extends the red roof building area as well to provide more store fronts. Bravo.

The overview

The Vision

^^^We're discussing it in the Lower Lonsdale thread.

Too bad Esplanade isn't called Marine or we could've posted about it in all three North Van threads.
