Couldn't agree more Ahealy. Remember when The Spring stuck out like a sore thumb. Well that's not the case anymore.

Yes, and with Seaholm it's going to be a great cluster of residential skyscrapers. If Bowie turns condo I would seriously move from 360 in a heartbeat.

I see they raised both tower cranes up! It looks like there making good progress and won't be long before they surpass The Monarch.

Thanks for the update! From the renderings, I wasn't expecting it to have this light-colored (I'm guessing limestone?) brick. It's looking much better than I expected. It's shaping up to be a very attractive building. And the cool thing is that, with this light-colored brick, it fits in very well with the buildings around it (Spring, Monarch, Gables, and 360). Block 1 will also fit in well with this group.

I'm assuming it's brick since it is easier to maintain. I'm sure there is a department in this city that oversees asthetics. Sure all architects implement elements of design from the surrounding area but here it's almost as if it's all coordinated. That's fine and all but the downside is developers tend to stay away from bold and unique designs and instead go overboard in keeping with the area's look which can become bland and typical.

Having said that, I love how this building is looking.

The brick looks nice but I'm not crazy about the exposed floor plates. Oh well...
The building will look pretty good when finished.

I see what you mean, I just now noticed that. I wonder if they will be covered over near the end of construction or will be left as is?

I estimate from corvairkeith's second pic that the roof line will be right about even with the horizontal beam of the crane. We can get an idea of how tall this is going to be.

^Good estimate. Supposedly crane shaft pieces are 20 feet tall each. There are 5 of them above the roof, plus the peak of the crane. So roughly 120 feet. Given that the tower now is around 300 feet tall, that would be around 423 feet.

My mother has been at Seton Main Hospital on 38th and her room is facing South. That is quite a view of Downtown from that angle. I will take my camera soon and take a photo from the parking garage. The UT skyline area blends in very well. Picture it like a cluster of buildings complimented by the Austin skyline right behind it. The Bowie from that view actually looks very wide and big. Not what I expected.

From some angles looking at it from the North it's almost hard to tell where the Bowie ends and the Spring begins so it looks extra wide.

From the angle at the hospital the Spring and Bowie are distinctly separate and the Bowie still looks big from far away. I was thinking perhaps it was 7rio that was blocking in the way making it look big but from that particular angle, it really doesn't look like it. But who knows... maybe it is. I will try to take some photos soon because its really a view of downtown I have never seen.
