There is storm sewer work enhancement work scheduled for around that area. Maybe for a coffer dam or retaining wall for the pipe going into the river.

My guess is bank stabilization to prevent slump mass failure, but I am not an engineer. I saw them put in the screw piles a few years ago, maybe they are not working?

You wouldn't use screw piles to stabilize a river bank. The cities preferred method is to use rock columns. That\s what they did on Lyndale drive this fall.

Many, many rock columns were installed in the Alexander Dock area prior to the restoration of the Alexander Dock, probably about 15 years ago.

They actually do use them in non-Winnipeg places to stabilize banks, plus they were bored into the ground and left there. If not for random means, maybe it was a test of their performance. They were substantial in size, not the tiny ones you use for decks.

That's good news. It's always a catch 22 with these types of projects. Needing a certain commitment before going ahead with it, but people always hesitant to commit without knowing if the project will actually ever go forward.

I heard Dcondo came in over budget, and will be delayed to allow for some "value-engineering/architecting".

That's disappointing. It was by far the best looking tower proposal out there. Hopefully it survives.

It is a fantastic book, I got a copy for Christmas. Surprisingly funny, Kives is able to mix a good dose of snark and clear-eyed criticism with genuine love for this town, and the photos are fantastic. Congrats to you both!

Selfishly, I hope that "Stuck in the Middle 2: The Unstuckening" has a pic of Kerr house, or more stuff around where I live in Broadway-Assiniboine.

Thanks Calder. I've not taken any photos of Kerr House, but I definitely should—it's pretty great. Haven't done much shooting at all in Broadway-Assiniboine, for that matter. I shall have to rectify that.
