What measurable impact has YYC-NRT had on YVR-NRT?

AC marketing is not coughing up specifics on NRT. There are a few moving parts to the equation (such as yield improvement on YYZ-NRT, introduction of the various WS inbound codeshares, new YVR-china nonstrops, etc.).

What I do know is that AC used to have departures at 10am, 10:30am, and 11am) with equipment that was 319-E90/CR7-319. Today there are ourly departures with E90 and load factor improvement. Conversely AC9/10 started out with load factor of 50-75%. ALl this movement suggests that YVR-NRT lost about 80 passengers per flight.

Scooter was just telling me about that today. I'm glad it sounds like the J taxiway to the parallel (at least) is close to completion. I thought that had been postponed, which would've meant a g**damn headache for you guys. It would be nice if we would get our always-promised and never realized fam to the tower but that doesn't look like it carries any sort of importance for the company. We can fly guys with little discernible job description all over the country on a weekly basis but can't afford to send you YYC terminal guys to YYC tower to waste a day in our lives. That's great. As per the avatar, that's a pic I snapped quickly with my iPhone showing about 15 departures lined up and waiting patiently for a 29 departure in a hybrid mode. frankly, I'm surprised we don't use the balanced mode more often. The webview, I couldn't give 2 shits about, however.

Departs YYC 1035 arrives 1700.

Well, I suspect that'll be the end of CMA's YXS-YYC venture... Plus, I wonder by switching to JFK, if the route isn't aiming to be year round more quickly and viably than EWR had the potential to be. It's not mentioned but is Encore doing the YMM-YLW/YVR flights? I suspect so.

Apparently YYC-JFK will be the 736.

On another note time for a Q400 flight today to YXE. Got a nice window seat with a great view of the prop.

AC tried YYC-JFK with a E190 before they switched to EWR did they not? None the less WS should fair well on the route with its ''every airline in the world'' flying to JFK… Should be good for connections to… Well just about anywhere!

Made sense for AC to switch to EWR since they are aligned with UA.

My sources at WJ tell me this has everything to do with onward connections. WJ codeshares with some of the major players at JFK and the goal of this flight it to capitalize on that. Also, yes, when people think NYC they think LGA or JFK. Exciting news for sure, hope it goes year-round!

Also good news for YXS and YMM as well.

I wonder what else they have up their sleeve for 2014? Anyone know if DFW will be back on the books?

LAS on WS is increasing from 2 to 3 daily starting in May.

The WS press release also doesn't state which seasonal routes will go year round, along with which other routes will receive increased frequency. It would have been nice if they went into more detail.

Just to clarify... current winter sked is 20 flights weekly (14x 738, 6x 737) and summer sked will be 20 flights as well (20x 738)

"Come at me, Rouge" says WS re: LAS.

The JFK switch is perplexing and I wonder if this is a hail mary pass for the route. The key question is where will the WS flight operate from terminal wise. It the options appear to be either T8 with AA or T4 with DL. Traditionally WS codeshares with DL for eastern Canada and AA for western Canada, this flight will be the exception to this rule.

Specifically this summer YMM opens the new terminal and WS is expanding flights from WS that do not involve YYC or YEG. The WS increase to YMM-YEG and YMM-YYC is a single Encore flight each. This compares to AC who has 6 Q400s to YYC and YEG (with DH3) plus YYZ x3daily and 2 daily to YVR. WS appears to be bypassing the YEG and YC hubs in favour of nonstop routes in the West.

Judging by the projected increases across the board with regard to people heading to YMM It may be a short term drop. As it is now it is getting tougher to book a flight without a considerable lead time. Even with the new flights both airlines are adding more seats.
