Not sure if this was posted yet, but here's Curbed's take on the new Comcast Tower.

http://hiddencityphila.org/2014/01/talking-citc-process-with-liberty-propertys-john-gattuso/

PS - The only bad thing about all these exciting developments is that I have to read so many posts just to catch up to date on this thread. My eyes are still recovering from 2005/2006!

thanks for sharing that interview, PhiLaw, but for the love of god, please don't confuse hidden city (or philly skyline, where i originally posted that interview) with curbed. thank you.

I think he confused it because Curbed posted a link to your interview on their site. Thanks for that interview BTW... it was great

How many lots remain in Center City that could accommodate a super-tall?

It's not just trophy space that's in shortage, but I recall reading somewhere that the bigger issue is the availability of large, contiguous spaces. I'm sure someone here can elaborate on that. But I'd say that is the bigger driver of new construction.

Also, with all due respect to the new Comcast Center and it's status as the first supertall, etc, I might actually be more excited for the FMC Tower. I think it's more visually striking - or at least, it's less polarizing than the CITC. More significantly, it will have a greater impact on the skyline. It's 650 ft., which makes it the 7th tallest when CITC is complete. But it's location will really make it visible from nearly all angles (even from Camden, I'd imagine).

Whether or not you agree, it's awesome that we can even have this discussion!

Because FMC will stand by itself, it's height will be striking....the eye will not be able to compare it with any tall neighboring buildings... But, CITC is the game changer..

You can see the Cira Center when driving west on Grove St in West Deptford Twp. It is located right in the center of the road which is pretty cool.

Just look at Market Street around the Peco Building.

I think that was probably the last realistic super tall lot until market east improves itself.

It is I, PhillyDreams, the founder of the very FIRST Philadelphia Development Thread back in 2003.

I've stopped back in to celebrate the great news of the CITC. When I joined skyscraperpage the Philadelphia diagram had 13 drawings, and thanks to Kevin Fields, we made a big leap with the diagram. I'm looking forward to seeing an artist's take on CITC and a new FMC Tower.

If anyone out there is still here from my days I hope all is well!

And Giovanni Sasso you still owe me $100 for Citizen Bank Park being built!

Used Google Earth to show what philly will generally look like after a couple of these projects are complete.

A fun article, but I also wanted to point out that I noticed in the comments section that Late1 got a shout out!

A one "Late1" did an excellent render on forum dot skyscraperpage dot com (post 811) of an additional 10 stories on the Comcast tower. Looks pretty epic. Make it happen Comcast. — teardownthisfishwrap

Tallest between Manhattan and Chicago? An Atlanta peach

Looks like we're slowly transitioning from skyline to skycluster. Good job

I love the loft high rise design of the new Comcast Bldg. That seems so true to Philly's industrial past. The glass and steel exterior are great ties to the modern city. But I'm sorry, that cheap spire looks stuck on.
