Check it out! Looks like Jacksonville wants an Ottawa Busway type system but is comparing the cost to what Calgary paid for the C-Train. About the same price..

That discussion and the debate between a high-cost busway or an average cost LRT is exactly why I hope that Calgary makes the right choice and builds the 203 Line as LRT (with 2nd Street and Centre Street Subway) correctly the first time.

Thunder Bay Transit employees have been working without a contract for 18 months now, so as of next Monday, is a labour dispute regarding wages and vision benefits isn't settled, they will go on strike. If they do so it will be the first transit strike here since 1986.

It was recently revealed today that city bus drivers, who must be able to see well to do their job, get less than half the vision benefits that golf course maintenance workers do. Only bus drivers in Cornwall earn less than drivers in Thunder Bay. The starting wage here is $18/hour.

Taco Time pays its employees $12 to keep ground beef warm. For just 6 dollars more, you can drive a 15 tonne people tube through the streets!

I agree completely. Taco Time needs to slash its employees' wages.

I know some employees there who are kind of surprised at the wages there and don't think they should be making as much as they do, but really, we're at a point where $12/hour should be minimum wage. The average age of fast food workers seems to be in the mid-30s. If they're still high school students at that age I don't know whether to be impressed or disappointed.

The timeline for those future changes (updated)... if 1.6 million is their "long term" plans, then that should mean within 20 years... the city is between 1.1 and 1.2 million right now, with the metro at about to hit 1.4 million this year (extrapolating from growth patterns in the most recent estimates [2012 at 1.309 million])

A brand-new terminal building was placed on the South-west corner (ie: towards downtown Calgary) almost immediately before the jet age, which made it obsolete almost as soon as it opened. In order to maintain some level of service, that terminal was kept open until the current terminal was constructed where there was land available, on the North-east corner (ie: the wrong side).

Can't wait for it to open. As a semi-regular user of GO pickering, there is never any parking in the GO sanctioned areas and I am forced to park in the mall parking lot and risk a ticket. The bridge is finally almost fully clad, and it looks great.
