That's funny. Deciduous trees in winter remind me of colder climates because they lose all their leaves and are just a skeleton. They look dreadful in the winter. The warmest part of Canada in the winter Van/Vic are the kings of evergreen trees. The largest and tallest trees in Canada are coniferous trees growing in coastal BC.

The reality is quite the opposite. Coniferous trees are associated with cold climates. When one moves north from the equator, deciduous gives way to coniferous. BC is dominated by coniferous trees because its really far north. The further south one goes the more deciduous trees you'll see and the they're taller the further south you go. The evergreens in BC are tall because the coast is extremely wet. It's a rain forest.

What a bizarre contrast. The right side of the river looks like it could be in Arkansas, the left looks like a very harsh northern region like NWT.

Another variation on the same view, but this one shows very well the new lighting scheme of Complexe Desjardins' three towers. I like it.

i have said this here before. PA has a amazing skyline and riverfront. especially when you consider its population. love the forest to the north, although most of it is gone now, when i was a boy we cut plenty of cutline through the north.

I like that they've added a lighting scheme, but I don't think lime green really suits Montreal's skyline or cityscape. I would rather see something a bit more traditional like a blue, red, or even pink. Or maybe orange.

It's green because that's the official color of Desjardins.

BC is no further north than anywhere else in Canada. And has the highest percentage of evergreen trees in the country i believe. And California is famous for its Redwoods and is definitely not far north. Therefore it must be a west coast thing and perhaps an elevation as opposed to a latitude issue?
