If the Liberals want Tim Hudak to become the Premier of Ontario, they will implement these tax ideas. The Liberals only have to lose 7 seats to the PCs for Hudak to win a minority government, and Liberals currently have 13 seats outside of the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Some Liberal seats in the Toronto area would also be endangered by people who don't want to pay any more taxes.

yo could also look at it as a fact that the Liberals are 4 seats away from a Majority, and that they tend to run much better campaigns than the PCs.

A lot closer to a majority than a minority with the Liberals holding a 7 point lead on the PC's in the latest polling.

The Conservatives will not try and trigger any election for a while. Especially without a feasible transit plan of their own, or else they will get torn a new one.

PCs have been trying to trigger an election since the last election, the election is in the hands of the NDP and whether they will be willing to go to an election or not.

Station Upgrades for some of the more beaten up TTC Stations - the old photo of the walls which were once covered with steel slats when they deteriorated.

Old

From blog to.com

http://www.blogto.com/city/2013/12/ttc_to_retrofit_stations_with_classic_wall_panels/

Preservationists be happy - the TTC is looking to the past in its ongoing overhaul of several damaged and dust-covered subway interiors. Whether intentional or not, the new reflective galvanized metal wall panels at St. Andrew station, roughly a third of which are installed, hark back to a time when many of Toronto's stations were decorated in glassy coloured tile.

- The TTC covered the original vitreous marble wall panels at St. Andrew and Osgoode stations when water damage caused the brittle tiles to warp and break. As photos show, the present vertical strips of plastic - also a feature of Kipling, Kennedy, Sheppard-Yonge, and Finch stations - simply cover the original pockmarked and dusty walls. The original tiles at every station from Union to Davisville were either knocked out or covered over in the 70s and 80s. Eglinton, trivia lovers, is the only stop to retain some of its original glossy aesthetic at track level.

- The $275,000 cost of the new wall treatment, which doesn't include the tile in the ticket hall or on the platform, came out of the TTC's annual maintenance budget. Osgoode, St. Patrick, Queen's Park, York Mills, Kipling, and Finch stations are also scheduled to get the same treatment in the next few years.

Fuck. Just found out there's no transit service on Christmas Day. Nor on New Year's, Family Day, Good Friday or Thanksgiving for that matter. Bad enough that Sunday service starts at 11 AM and stops at 7 PM. Hopefully I can find a cab company that's running so I can visit my wife in the hospital. This goddamnded excuse for a city is run by a pack of idiots. Not just complaining about my situation; what about the people who have to work on those days/hours and who are forced to pay exorbitant taxi rates or beg rides to get to/from work?

We should begin to see the rolling stock sometime in the new year. I suppose testing will also begin in 2014. Not much to test, its just a train on tracks. Although the the elevated portion will be interesting. The platforms at Union and Pearson should be fully enclosed.

Deathbridge. Otherwise known as Lethbridge. Shit, I mean I realize civic employees need time off but where are the pople wo make the work schedules? The entire city shuts down on certain holidays. There are certainly people who are willing to work on holidays for a premium, I'm one of them.. There isn't isn't enough capacity and they're raising rates as of Jan 1, that'll be 20% in 2 years. We have a large student population here (12,000+ in a city of abt. 100,000), many recent immigrants and little downtown parking. But the DBs at city hall seem to be a decade behind the times and would rather argue about parks.

Red Deer is far more big-city-thinking when it comes to policy and decisions on the municipal level. It is truly Alberta's 3rd city.

Thunder Bay's city offices shut down for the two week period containing Christmas and New Years, but our transit system is still running. They tried taking away holiday service about 15 years ago, and the public outcry was so great that they reversed the decision within months.

Lethbridge's issue might be a lack of drivers, though. Not many drivers want to work on Christmas day. Thunder Bay's transit system runs until 1am on Canada Day, so drivers working that shift can't take part in the Fireworks display (which starts an hour after service would typically end on a holiday.) You just see the new drivers working that day.

Very funny. The city isn't shut down, that's an exaggeration born of frustration. Downtown is pretty much a wasteland - as it usually is anyway, other than offices - but malls, bars, restaurants etc keep their regular hours through the holidays (other than a few small establishments that continually whine about people not buying local and wonder why they don't) and there are still people working today. But there's no transit service from 6PM Christmas eve until 11AM boxing day (and only until 7PM then) and none on New Years (or family day, good friday, or thanksgiving) on a heavily utilized system. I can understand reduced service, but none at all? Makes no sense. The tinytown attitude here is very hard to take sometimes.

Yeah, but Red Deer's transit is shut down for Christmas and New Years..

In the end it was gonna be one of the three.
