Not really related to 1400 Howe, but did anyone stay late enough to see what happened with 2290 Main Street?

^ City staff and the developer gave short presentations about 2290 Main and there wasn't time to go any further. The rest of the hearing (including public comment, I'll be speaking in support) will take place on Tuesday, October 29th.

Its rezoning application has been approved. It still must obtain a development permit. My hunch, though, is that it will sail through the UDP and DPB.

The mini-storage building on the site is getting a skin of shiny metallic copper cladding.

Not sure if that's for a presentation centre - but copper doesn't tie into the building design, does it?

Ingels has unique descriptions for most of his buildings. There's an apartment building going up in Vancouver next to a highway interchange. Its base is triangular, and it twists into a rectangle at the top.

"So it's essentially almost like a weed that starts growing through the cracks in the asphalt and sort of blossoms when it escapes the turmoil of the city around it," he says.

From the rezoning report it appears there will be some mechanical on the roof:

Height — The height of the proposed tower is (497 ft.), measured to the top of the roof slab. The extension of the parapet to screen the roof mechanical brings the total height up to 154.5 m (507 ft.)
