OMG if you thought the WF on 8th @ Cambie was weird place can you imagine one in Surrey?

Maybe some enterprising soul could do Surrey Highlights/Weirdness Tours I'm sure they'd sell but liability insurance would be an issue.

there is already a CHOICES in South Surrey and it does great. WF would fit in well in the same general area. I don't see your point.

Hard Rock Casino "Vancouver" (Coquitlam) is opening next Friday. Too bad that they decided to build it out there instead of making it a part of the Entertainment District in Downtown.

This is just a rebranding of the already existing Boulevard Casino. But yes, it would have been a smarter play if they could have negotiated to rebrand the Edgewater downtown, but Edgewater and Boulevard are owned by different companies.

Given the owners of Edgewater (Paragon) have a presence in Vegas (Riviera), it would have been unusual for them to negotiate branding with one of their Vegas competitors, although the two hotels in Vegas are on completely different levels and cater to different clientele.

I am actually surprised river rock hasn't gone for a license deal with one of the big vegas brands (although coquitlam could be a test). It would also be smart for Paragon to do something of this nature for the BC place resort although I'm sure "Vancouver Not Vegas" would get their noses out of joint in some way or another. I don't understand why the media even gives that group the time of day.

With more and more condos populating the land around that area, it is a bit of a stretch to call it an "entertainment district"

The River Rock (Great Canadian Gaming) seems have developed its own brand quite well.
I doubt that importing a Vegas casino brand would help much.

Remember when the Skagit Valley Casino (on I-5) was a Harrah's?

Yeah, that's Morgan Creek - high end territory.

There's a Steve Nash Sports Club (not Fitness World) down there and they have an H&M at Grandview Corners.

Imagine if Paragon adopted "Vancouver Not Vegas" as their slogan for the Edgewater Casino? Steam would shoot out of some peoples' ears.

Now if only Vancouver area casino resorts had amazing restaurants, a fun atmosphere, outstanding shopping, fun nightlife, a comps program and 24/7 Alcohol service, then the casino would be a fun night out!

has anyone been in the hard rock? when i was in there in october they were part way through renos - it was looking quite good

i wonder with the new name they will have bigger name concerts, not that the big names don't already play there but more of an edge for them to get the bands etc to come in

I thought it was weird they were opening a Hard Rock Casino that didn't include a Hard Rock Cafe.. but it appears the Las Vegas location doesn't either..

The Hard Rock Hotel/Casino in Vegas has a Hard Rock Cafe .... its just not attached to the hotel. It sits right in-front of the Hotel.
