Depend really what you think is a major project. If you think height is the only criteria...take for example the Nordelec or les bassins du havre, no height but those are massive projects IMO.

Just read an article about job starts in Canada. Unfortunately Montreal is at the bottom of the list according to Stats Canada. There was a decline of 4% in new jobs in Montreal, where the rest of Canada had an increase. Some were small but both Calgary and Vancouver had big increases. Economics plays a big part in the West having so many new projects come on board.

Height likely isn't what he was referring exclusively to, as both Vancouver and Calgary have many low and mid rise projects on the go that often go completely unreported here just like the Montreal ones. Vancouver has an entire neighbourhood in their downtown under complete development right now with 7 towers under construction, 11 proposed, and 9 completed... known as SE False Creek (formerly Olympic Village). Vancouver's boom seems to be winding down slightly, but with all of the amazing economic news coming out of BC recently, I expect to see it resurge back to 2008 levels, same with Calgary but for 2006 levels (our previous peak). As far as height goes, once L'Avenue gets going, Van and MTL will be relatively neck and neck, and once Trump Vancouver is completed, Montreal will have 2 UC taller than anything in the city of Vancouver, though Burnaby will still have Altus.

It's undeniable though that Montreal's boom, while bigger than anything we've seen in a long time, is still not enough relative to the size of the city. Oh well.

What is your source? I don't get to that conclusion according to this table:

Montréal: 2.5% increase in people employed in November 2013 vs 2012= 49 400 more people employed (new jobs).

The numbers for the other cities are:
Toronto: 2.4% = 74 300 more people employed
Cargary: 4.1% = 30 800 more people employed
Vancouver: -0.3% (a decrease in the number of people employed) = a decrease in total of people employed of 4200

According to these numbers, it is Vancouver that seems to lag the other cities for job creation.

I think Montreal's is enough relative to the city, its Vancouver Calgary and Toronto which are having disproportionately large booms.

Everything is relative.

Thanks for sharing the Vid of Calgary Reesonov..Enjoyed that! How much do they charge for all day parking in Calgary?..Just curious.Great pics these last few posts as well...Nice to see some shots of Saskatoon.
