I like Qdoba too, however there are two locations of Burrito Del Rio that are local and have much better food IMO.

Give the local shops a try instead of waiting for yet another US chain.

I have heard the near term plan is two Qdoba in Winnipeg with another two to follow.

If you want to support local Burrito Splendido has two locations and also operates out of Investors Group Field on event days.

Is it some sort of labour thing? The red "1919" seems to suggest that this is an attempt to recreate Victoria Park, which was one of the key sites of the General Strike.

Burrito Del Rio is my favorite by far. I also like Casa Burrito too. It is just that neither are convenient and Qdoba/Chipotle are my favorite go to fast food in the States.

There is a faction of history enthusiasts who, for some reason, really want to do just that: recreate Victoria Park. There have been a few columns and op-ed pieces in the Free Press to that effect over the years.

Frankly, I'm not sure why one of the many underused existing parks in the area couldn't have been used to commemorate the history of Victoria Park... why does it always have to involve demolishing buildings?

Was rockin the 'OB and heard bits of Richard Cloutier's interview with Ross McGowan.

Centre venture hinted at making an announcement on the St.Fegis in the new year.

When Richard asked Ross about the future of the building, Ross said to expect the St.Regis to come down.

McGowan mentioned that the developers behind the 24 story Pumphouse proposal are also courting a supermarket.

Lastly, it sounds from the interview like Glasshouse is a 'GO' come spring.

Other things McGowan mentioned have been hinted on this board before, such as the the number of exchange district developments that are hinging on a new parkade.

Ross McGowan seemed perplexed when asked what to do with Portage place, he figured that the development of the SHED would put positive pressure on the mall to redevelop and renew itself.

He said to hopefully expect an announcement on the Bay in the next half year.

I really don't understand how a bunch of funnelators in an area focussed on suburbanites coming to get drunk once a week is going to help portage place.

Take everything McGowan says with a grain of salt.

I don't think many posters here would disagree with this, in fact several developments in the East exchange are on hold or waiting to proceed or begin planning solely on the grounds that a parking structure is built. It's a crucial piece in the sustained development of the area.

I think he means that when MTS Centre becomes obsolete there could be pressure to demolish the PP apartment complex due to public safety concerns and built a new arena there.

Then we can demolish MTS and build a replica of Eaton's on the site.
