Exciting news in Summerside courtesy of APM and the Journal Pioneer. Good to see some activity on that site. Hopefully a larger tenant (Kent/Callbecks) making an announcement soon. Both have had interest "uptown" before.

Starbucks? Second Cup? Looks like a drive-thru.

I'd rather see Burger King come back to Summerside, then have Starbucks, but honestly, it looks like a similar design to both Starbucks & Burger King, so I'm speculating that its one or the other.
As for the future large tenant, I think it will be Target. That the only large space big enough for them to build in, and Home Hardware had expressed interest in it before, but they've since put money into their current location, including building a Home Furniture next door, they are staying put. Kent owns the land across from Walmart on Granville Street.
I'm also curious as to what might be build on the corner of Walker and Granville. They tore down the former Sears building (it was Frenchys & Discount Lumber for a while as well) and the site is now vacant, and owned by Crombie REIT.

I understood that Kent/Irving did not acquire the uptown parcel as it was environmentally challenging to build on (marsh land), but if so, they will not be in the mix for Holland College. Callbecks could always move, I understood that Home Furniture was a separate dealer. Either way, things are starting to stir.

The lot across from Walmart is behind the marsh area, its actually relatively close to central street too. However, I'm not 100% positive who owns it, but pretty sure its Irving. Also, Callbecks owns the Home Furniture store. But yeah I agree, the pot is starting to going around and around.

Also, there is an expansion of Lefurgy Subdivision planned for next year:

The Target in the Charlottetown Mall is nice I even managed to find season 3 of Eastbound and Down there when Walmart and HMV and Futureshop all failed to have it and that includes both Moncton and Saint John way to go Target! The store is clean has that new store smell and was full of eager shoppers.

I was in there the other day. The mall looks so much tidier now. I like the Starbucks so close to the entrance too, especially with the pretzelmaker right there too. Very clean store, great selection. I even noticed they moved the bus shelter too, similar to in Moncton, Target didn't want the bus shelter in front of the store.

Last time I was at the mall Pretzelmaker had moved down to the foodcourt. I happened in what seemed like a day

HOORAY!!

This is the building on the corner of Queen and University that has sat for so long empty. Look at the nice brick underneath the siding. Once they finish this, it might be a showpiece and a beautiful addition to the streetscape.

I'm old enough to remember this building before that hideous siding went on. It used to be Lord's Pharmacy (I think).

What are the plans for the building braymondg?

I was just as shocked to see work being started on the old building. I walked out of the Court Mall with my wife and saw this so I took a picture. I have no idea what they are going to do but finally something is being done.

Maybe Rob Lantz knows more on what is taking place.
