^ great work Chad - the EV is looking more stellar every day! Those renders for the NMC are amazing, I don't even know how the new library will be able to go beyond these awesome projects

I really like Verve ... Excited to see The Riff get underway, the renders look great

Also I think that Riocan project looks pretty .. Short.. for that location .. Let's hope what they've shown there is only the podium for a 40-50 storey tower

I can't for the life of me place that on a map. Where am I looking at? Is it that smaller bridge East-South-East of St. Patrick's bridge on the map posted just after your post?

It's exactly at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers, the bridge goes over the Elbow about 20 meters south of the confluence.

Arts - The National Music Centre just got a little richer — as did Alberta's cultural history.

The Calgary-based home for Canadian music has just announced a $2-million gift from ATB Financial, which will be used for projects dedicated to storytelling in this province.

The partnership will go toward the creation of The Stories and Songs Initiative, with components that include: the Oral History Recording Project that "will collect and preserve interviews with unique and powerful voices that explore Alberta's music history from the perspectives of musicians, fans, industry pioneers, and art champions"; and the ATB Financial Alberta Stories Roadcase that will let students from around the province in grades 4 to 6 connect with each other digitally on a storytelling and musical level; and finally an initiative that will collect elements of both of those projects and share them online as well as in the We Are Alberta exhibition "an important special exhibition that features stories that are both crowdsourced and curated."

The new National Music Centre building is currently being built in the East Village, with the opening date now slated for 2016.

I don't think that would be good. Maybe ten floors of curtainwall mixed-use massive floor plate. 3 of those floors being office, and 7 being hotel or condos. That would be perfect.

That Riocan site might have issues shadowing the river but I'm in favour of seeing it at 40 stories or so

Mixed use, of course - a few levels of retail (IIRC I heard awhile back that they secured Loblaws as a tenant via a commitment letter - awesome grocer for the area) ... 12 stories of office; 25 stories of residential/hotel space

Some potential with that lot given it's a block away from the City Hall LRT station

^^ Ya, those Shadowing issues I suppose. Too much 10 story stuff being proposed anyway. Developers will eventually get tired of paying big/high dollars for less and less land to justify putting up some unspired 10-15 story POS! Wait and see!
