The Granary is very beautiful as well. Very nice Pearl Properties! I hope they bring us a highrise here

Also, Pearl does great work with NO PARKING. And you know me, I hate parking.

They're calling in the big guns...

If you're in center city at all it's worth swinging by the CC lobby. For those of you who know the scale of it, they have stages and light screens occupying close to half the space. The light screens appear to be 20-30ft high. They aren't sparing any expense...

You are right. But the Sansom doesn't. What I meant to say was that they aren't afraid to do development without parking. Like the Sansom, the 1900 block is within the no-parking-allowed Center City West overlay in the new zoning code so I am hopeful that if Pearl has something planned they wouldn't be seeking an exception to add parking.

IF a person wanted to sneak out of work and go live tweet the Comcast event, what time should that person be at the CC plaza?

I would hope at 19th and Chestnut they would not develop something with parking, but I would be fine with an underground garage here as long as the entrance was on 19th and not Chestnut.

Dumbass Democrats--the Republicans actually shot them a gimme with the minor prevailing wage changes but they couldn't compromise either. They're quite as guilty as the Republicans in this instance IMHO.

I though about that, too. They could easily use the huge LCD screen that is the lobby wall. Perhaps they have something special in store.

As much as I would like to hear a new tower being announced, I highly doubt it. Too much media attention for a tower announcement if it isn't one of the largest in the world. And I doubt Philly is ready for a 1500+ tall tower.

It's a broadcast, they're setting up a full studio in the lobby--something they can't do with the screen.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do a broadcast with Brian Williams (who hosts many of the Comcast internal meetings from 30 Rock) on NBC Nightly News or feature some other personalities for the event.

It's an LED screen too.

AFAIK, it starts at noon.

I was just speaking with a photographer that is employed by Comcast and was trying to pick his brain about the new tower. So I asked him if he has seen any renderings and how tall it would be, he answerd " they are keeping it very tight lipped " I asked who is they he said " the British architects are in a room working with the architect photographer who's job is taking photos of the renderings. I kept pressing him about the height and he said " they want to make it taller but just enough that you can see the deference with the exciting tower " he went onto mention 200 to 300 feet of deference would achieve that goal. That's all people it's happening sooner rather then later. By my estamation I think we break 1000 feet for the first time. All this is so exciting and I think Phillys future should include a building at 1776 feet. So wishfull thinking: the new Comcast tower hopefully reaches for the stars

Well 200 feet taller than the existing tower puts the new one taller than the John Hancock Center in Chicago, and 300 feet puts it taller than the Empire State Building. So I'd say this was fairly significant. I like Foster, and I'm sure that just the height of the building was not their only concern. Of primary importance is a well-designed building.
