On our way to Canmore right now and I just remembered that debate about how far Calgary is from the mountains, between Calgarians and people who didn't know what they were talking about. Just made it from my house in Calgary to the snow capped peaks of the front ranges in 32 minutes. 36 minutes in and we are at Lac Des Arcs. So beautiful. Going 10 over the speed limit just for reference. Edit: in Canmore at 43 min.

This is a great shot. Herald Square is really going to move the balance of the skyline back closer to the centre, though; it's going to be a great addition to the skyline from every vantage point.

I didn't know you guys had an urban park, that's really cool! Looks to be like Calgary's equivalent of Stanley Park I guess?

Can't wait to see Eau Claire and the North LRT there too.

I really love all the different designs and colours of the buildings in downtown Calgary.

Despite being a relatively young skyline, it's buildings and skyline hasn't become just a huge collection of blue/green glass a la Vancouver or Toronto.

That's Prince's Island Park. It's a really great park area, spend lots of time there in the summer

Yeah, there's a couple more islands a bit east of this as well. One houses the zoo, the other is St. Patrick's Island, which has started a huge redevelopment and pedestrian bridge as part of the East Village redevelopment.

The new design for the Eau-Claire market looks great, and there are also a handful of other developments u/c in the area at the moment with lots more announced. Things are getting pretty interesting around here.

Really? I am completely shocked to hear people haven't heard of Prince's Island Park! Many pictures have been posted of it, like hundreds. Many of them include the skyline!

It is a beautiful park. As Spring said, there are several more island parks to the east of Prince's Island Park, one of which is undergoing a renaturization as part of the East Village project currently!

That Calgary shot is beautiful.... the colors and all! I hate to say it though, the Bow really (IMO) dominates because of it's width! Need a 700-750 footer on the far west side to balance it out
