Ya it's kind of too bad, wonder if this is the beginning of new things. Downtown is trying to remove parking lots but is maybe just pushing them north? Ellice could really use some positivity but I wonder if they were worried about some negative foot traffic affecting this building there? I'm not sure.

If I recall the rumours correctly, TN wanted 4Play and the owners played hardball. The thought process was the space would be the sports bar. But I dont know if they intended to actually use it for the Glasshouse development.

But I would think TN might have interest in it.

4Play was a terrible bar. The owners should have taken the money and ran.

Lots of piling going on at the north end of block, where your diagram shows tower #2. Does this mean, if the parkade reaches Ellice, they are one day prepared to build the second tower? Iv'e never seen so many piles go in for a 3 or 4 level parkade.

There's a market on Portage or somewhere close by for a good Cheers type bar. A place where nobody knows their name. No gimmicks, no T&A..just good conversation, Cherry Wood furnishings, and pretzels.

To be honest, the Regal Beagle if it were cleaned up could be this bar..even the Garrick Hotel.

it's a shame that every new sports bar in this town has slutty waitresses and expensive drinks..(shark club)

My brother just came back from St,John's Newfoundland and went at great pains to describe George Street.."Imagine Albert street if it were closed to traffic, and every business on it was a pub. St.John's has 5 times the urbanity of Winnipeg, and not even half the population."

TV, is this a third concept for the Glasshouse parkade?
I'm pretty sure the one I posted was the final...it came from the designer himself.

I think we can all agree the North Tower was not feasible at this time, even the South Tower has not met it's target level of pre-sales for construction to commence(mentioned earlier by a poster).

Besides this, the area you mentioned in my opinion, is still sketchy at best. With the removal of what little retail/commercial activity there was in the construction of the parkade with no ground level activity incorporated into the design, has not helped the matter either. Ellice Ave. is not ready for a high end Condo Tower yet. It's about pushing residents south, unless people consider the Giant Tiger and a Liquor Store a reason for people to buy a unit at this location.

(see >> Portage Place, Trizec Building, etc..) I've never seen the blueprints of the parkade as others involved in the project here may be privy to, but if this is the case be prepared to wait a loooong time.

I would have to think that most, if not all residential towers will be built either on Portage or south of Portage in the next 10 years.

^^ Sounds like what to expect in the next decade. North of Portage has a ways to go.

Little Reno for the RWB..on Graham Ave...
RWB gets $1 million for renovations
The upgrades include a new roof, expansion of the performance/rehearsal theatre, new seating, studio lighting upgrades, and a wheelchair ramp and automatic door openers.

Good news. The RWB's building on Graham brings a lot of people downtown.

I know that $1 million wouldn't be enough to do it, but it would be nice to see them expand their building to fill in the small square in front of the main doors, preferably something with a lot of glass that casts light on the street. With the huge Hydro plaza across the street, there is no real need for a square in front of the RWB anymore...

Yes, nice little upgrade.

Had to think about the location your talking about, Going north on Edmonton St (one way) just before Graham Ave. ok
It would be nice to see the proposal you mentioned, It seems like an underused space and as you said redundant with the Plaza across the street. Possibly an expanded entrance way to highlight the building as a whole. Funding is always the question, unfortunately. Even a Snarfalattor in the space would improve the entranceway, although RWB is not in the "SHED" district If I remember correctly.

If I recall correctly, the corner of the block where RWB is sliced out of the SHED but it borders on it. I am sure a Rustolattor would be acceptable there.

Interesting new document by the City on potential future riverbank development in the downtown area.

.......I don't know how to link or post images from a PDF but there are some interesting ones in there. I especially love the Osborne Station and redevelopment of the South Point Douglas areas.

On the assumption that the East St Paul/SmartCentres goes through - what do people think is the best way for the development to have road access?
