Not sure if they've even changed hte signage on any theatre yet. I know here in Freddy, all the marquees are still Empire tagged. Just the software and trailers have changed.

I believe it is a 10 storey addition, from what I've been told. I think it looks great, I hope it doesn't get lambasted in the community like many of our other recent proposals for urban intensification. ACRE do wonderful work and I have no doubt this would be an excellent addition to the city.

What is amazing is to think that this could become one of the most prominent parts of our skyline, given that the site is on top of the highest point in the central peninsula, this building would easily exceed most of the older Uptown towers in overall elevation! Next time you cross the Harbour Bridge or toward the causeway from Mount Pleasant East, look at the central peninsula, find the current Gothic Arches (it is already very prominent) and imagine 10 storeys next to it and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Wow! Never in my wildest dreams was I anticipating a 10 storey proposal for this site, and I'm thrilled to hear the developer is working with Acre. BUILD IT!!!

One of you guys should post that rendering of the Gothic Arches in the "Canadian City Proposals" thread in the Canada section.

Ah the other view shows the 10th floor. The angle of the street side makes it look like 9 stories.

Not my taste exactly, but a hell of a lot better than the empty gravel lot that is sitting there right now, and a huge step for Waterloo! It's been a long time since we've seen new residential construction North of Union/Waterloo Village.

Also, I have heard that demolition of the old Sears/Zellers building at Landsdowne in the North End will begin in a week or two. No firm plans, but the rumour is that Sobeys will build one of their new format stores [ie. larger] in that space to replace the smaller one next door.
