His mom was interviewed on CP24 saying that the only problem he has is a weight problem and shouldn't go to rehab....

Jesus his family are terrible enablers and going to end up killing Rob if they are only concerned with their dynasty and Doug's political aspirations.

I'm just quoting somebody on my fb "keeps taxes low, doesn't take vacations on the taxpayer dollar...gets my vote! Regardless of his personal habits"..

Made me think a little bit..A crack smoking mayor gets raked through the coals, yet year after year politicians from all parties indirectly line their pockets with our money.
Here's the thing..when they do get caught, it doesn't garner near the media attention as a crack smoking mayor..Think about it..Which politician is more of a criminal? (see Duffy and Wallin)

Um, Fords sent staff to coach football on city time, fundraised for personal projects on city letterhead, and voted on his own conflict of interest case. That's just as criminal as dubious expense claims.

He also cost the city as much money as he saved, by cancelling/changing projects that already had contracts out, including in some cases where he didn't have authority to do so. He spent 300,000 to undo a city project that had been completed only a couple years before, just cause.

he is perilously close to playing the victim card....'im sick, i need help'....the news is running stories about addictions, talking to homeless kids in back alleys about their crack addiction.

i have sympathy for children without families who fall into drug use...i feel sympathy for people who are underprivileged and get surrounded by the wrong people.

but he made these decisions. He had all the advantages in life...he chose to run in the circles he does.....zero sympathy from me.

he is not a victim....he deserves his fate.

Absolutely, he is an arrogant buffoon and clearly an all around bad person. No sympathy.

^ you wouldn't believe the amount of anti-ford graffiti in Toronto, it has been building up for the last 3 years as well.

You may not have noticed, but Duffy and Wallin (and Brazeau, and Harb) did get caught. And I seem to recall some media attention.....

Moments after the video surfaced Thursday, Ford emerged from his office to tell reporters that he was “extremely inebriated,” and that he has made “mistakes.”
He also called the video “extremely embarrassing.”
Ford did not offer any context for the video, which came out two days after he admitted that he smoked crack cocaine while in a “drunken stupor.”

I am completely dumbfounded at the possibility that his popularity is rising.

But Ford cleaned up all the graffiti in Toronto! Single-handedly! Oh... wait.

I remember when he was campaigning him and his brother portrayed "downtown" (meaning Old Toronto) as a decaying hell-hole covered in graffiti and plagued by crime. At one point Doug talked about seeing burning cars from the Gardiner. The whole thing was ridiculous.

I doubt he actually is. The response to the video yesterday was extremely negative. In any event, popularity polls can be extremely deceiving. Ford has polled an approval rate between 40% and 50% for the past few years which supporters seem to latch onto as popular support. The former mayor polled consistently higher, and I think was still hovering around 50% after a divisive municipal strike that helped usher the era of Ford in. So I'd take any popularity poll with a grain of salt.

It is curious isn't it. Alberta had an uneducated, alcoholic buffoon as Premier for years - thankfully most of his reign was in an era of no cell phone video cameras and social media He was pissed much of the time and said all sorts of things behind closed doors But, he remained very popular with the public there. Some say he was just a talking puppet supported for his obedience to the corporates. But Ralph did have charisma to make up for all his other weaknesses - which Ford doesn't seem to have...

Didn't Washington DC re-elect their crackhead mayor Marion Berry just after he was released from jail from a drug conviction in the early 90s? Charisma again?

Maybe some people in TO like Ford because he is doing a good job as mayor, despite his transgressions? He is right wing so the lefties already hate him, plus according to his detractors he tends to go with his 'gut' and use 'common sense' (a la Ralph) instead of listening to 'experts' and 'studies'. So the self proclaimed 'experts' hate him too, which there seem to many of those these days

Maybe Ford just needs help instead of a swift kick in the — ? Maybe he should give everyone in TO $400 to shut them up and look the other way? I'm completely neutral on Ford - I don't live in Toronto. But I am enjoying the coverage on late night talk shows

Which premier is that? I'm new here, not entirely familiar with Alberta history.

Good to hear that it is likely that his popularity is actually falling. Very good.
