The chances of an NFL team coming to Toronto in the next decade are "pretty good."

Given 17 of 19 Toronto FC games were played in rain at BMO Field this season, "we've got to put an end to that, it's time to put a roof on BMO Field."

At the requests of the city of Toronto, which owns BMO Field, MLSE is looking at whether the venue can be changed to accommodate the CFL. "The Argos are part of a conversation, not a decision that's been made."

MLSE is looking at whether a larger block of tickets should be freed up to get some new Leafs fans in the ACC to make the venue livelier.

The NHL needs to put hockey in the Seattle-Portland marketplace, as well as returning a team in Quebec. And that such expansion — as well as possibly in Las Vegas and Kansas City — is needed to grow the sport before talk of a second franchise in the Toronto area.

Well, he's not likely to say there's a snowball's chance in hell, or say that it's imminent especially after the recent ignoring of T.O. by Goodell. After all, isn't this the same guy who tried to get a team in LA.

- Construction of the iconic wood surround – called the Veil - at the south side stands has started.
- Each of the 24 large wooden ribs are being carefully positioned and fastened. Construction of the entire Veil will take several months.
- Drywall and other fixtures continue to be installed on the three levels of the building.
- Seat installation and work on the roof at the north stands continues.
- Work on the new lower concourse concession has started.
- New floors at the upper concourse are being poured.

From Bank Street, the shape of the renovated stadium can be seen. The last portion of the parking garage, in the foreground, is being finished, while seats continue to be installed in the north stands in the background


At the west end of the south stands, work continues on the new stair case


The curving shape of the new south stands can be seen as the precast bleachers at the third level are installed


Some of the first vertical pieces of the wooden surround at the south stands, called the Veil, have been put up

So in the end, the Oilers will have used Rexall Place for a little over 40 years.... not too bad. Is Rexall Place going to come down once the new rink is built?

To be determined. Northlands is reviewing options including retaining, reducing the size of it ie. close top half, repurpose and demo.

If I were a betting man, demo.

I bet they could make a nice little sum of $$ by selling off seats from the old barn and other items of memorabilia from Rexall/Northlands such as they did when they imploded the old Yankee Stadium. All sports fans, not just Oiler fans, would likely jump at the chance to take home a section of 2 or 4 seats from the old barn.

Northlands had a renovation in 1994 though and the seats were all replaced so if they sold them off they wouldn't be the one's from the Gretzky and Messier glory years.

I'm pretty sure the ones up in the 200s and 300s weren't replaced.

Seats were sold in Winnipeg - as were ones in Hamilton
