Eventually, Madison city will become a part of Huntsville city limits. If and when that happens, it'll push Huntsville's population number sup drastically.

Government mergers are extremely unlikely in Alabama... Consistently, municipalities are formed so that people can have a more localized voice.

If Priceville can't even vote to become part of Decatur, Madison will never vote to become part of Huntsville.

Some surveying going on very early today on I-565 between the Andrew Jackson exit and US-72 Interchange. Wonder what this could be for? Maybe an extended merge lane from Andrew Jackson? Not sure how they could do this it is very congested and tight through this section.

Downtown bridge on Holmes set for replacement. It will be similar to the Clinton Ave one that was done recently.

Accepting bids Nov. 8th for constructing the Bridge Replacement on CR-77 (Holmes Avenue) over Pinhook Creek in the city of Huntsville.

this afternoon no less than 8 vehicles out surveying and placing stakes along the stretch from Andrew Jackson to the top of Chapman Mountain. May have something to do with the Moores Mill Rd overpass that has been in the planning stages for 20 years. Of course if Aldont is involved the geology of the earth will change quicker, think erosion. tectonic plate shifting,
Grand Canyon, etc.

more surveying,these guys are out before daylight: it almost looks like preliminary plans to rebuild this stretch of narrow interstate. One feasible but expensive way would be to elevate the through lanes. They also need to add a lane in each direction.

I had heard that Star Market in Bailey Cove won't be allowed by the developer to renew their lease - apparently they are now month-to-month - because they are getting paid big $$ by Wal-mart to turn that into a Neighborhood Market. Anyone else hear that?

In a trend we are seeing across the country major franchises locating on college campus.
Opening at UAH by January 2014..Dunkin Doughnuts in the new student center I would guess

New Family Dollar going in at 503 Jordan Lane across from the Subway, just south of Beauregards. Mention this because this stretch of Jordan between Holmes and I-565 is probably the most eclectic stretch of road in Huntsville with it's unique variety of ethnic restaurants, tatoo parlors, and stores. With UAH nearby and well establish neighborhoods it has potential to really develop further into that kooky fun section of town. In this case Family Dollar may actually help improve the neighborhood.

Expansion at Providence

Twickenham Square a GREAT development but could have been more. It will basically be hidden behind the hospital not visible from Governors Drive. Too bad a signature tower or architectural element would have been included to highlight the development. As it is it will be nice but boring.

i agree it could have been more. however, still an improvement over what was there and a little added density to the downtown area. small steps.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Would hate to see the great meats and Beer selection(local) go to the wayside for another walmart.

Also, the Krystals on South Parkway, now says "Remodeling" on the sign and the boards on the windows have come down... Is Krystals coming back!?!?!?!! I hope so. Hate driving to the one on Whitesburg to get my fix! Thanks!
