Good to see that space renovated. I don't mind dg places. They look nice although they tend to all look similar. What I find annoying is how they like to call everything public house or social houses ugh at first it was cute but it would be nice if they could just call it a bar/pub

Say what you will about DG pubs, but at least it will breathe new life into this space, and offer an alternative to Cactus Club and Joeys in the immediate area.
also it will have a Donnelly owned/operated barber shop offering $35 shaves and $35 cuts. apparently there will be no 'wall' between it and the bar so you will be able to enjoy a pint while you get your shave or snip on. interesting

Crave on Main Street is closing. It was the first restaurant in the wave of gentrification mid-Main, so I guess it's the end of an era. Apparently the building's been sold, future redevelopment?

Co-owner of Two Chefs and a Table, Allan Bosomworth, has a warrant out for his arrest for having a hidden camera in a place where people would assume reasonable privacy when a pin-hole camera was found in one of the restaurants washrooms.

Vancouver Sun reports on the Hotel Vancopuver's retail renovations

- 900 West will temporaily move to the Panorama Roof next year while the lobby is renovated.

Quote:
After Griffins closes on Nov. 5, all breakfast, lunch and dinner service will shift to 900 West before moving temporarily to the Panorama Roof on the 15th floor next year while 900 West gets renovated.

The Panorama Roof — which enjoyed its heyday in the 1940s and 1950s — will also get a makeover, but Barnes said it is unlikely to ever reopen permanently as a restaurant and bar.

“It will be a fabulous space for weddings and other social events,” he said.
Personally, if they want to differentiate themselves in the market, then open the Panorama Roof permanantly.
A lot of the hotel restaurants do not have a view.

I agree with you 100 percent. That would be amazing and would be a great throwback to the old. Love going to the hotel Van for drinks periodically but it would be even more appealing if it was located in that space.

They could even scale back 900 West to a cafe (with the rest of the space as new retail space $$$) and send everyone else upstairs.

The restaurant at Trump Tower Vancouver will be high end Chinese according to this article (i.e. I guess the former arrangement for another Cioppinos died)

Quote:
The restaurant, his “personal baby,” will be Chinese fine dining, with signature dishes from other Chinese cuisines, a high-concept kitchen with a star chef. And although he won’t reveal more, he is getting excited about it. “It’s going to be very cool.”

From looking at their website, that's going to be their permanent store rather than their former pop up store.

Their twitter indicates that they're hoping to open next week pending inspections.

The Straight's reporting Chambar is on the move down the street to 566 Beatty. Isn't that right next door?
