My issue with it isn't that it's complex but that it wastes so much land. But then that tends to be the case with controlled-access highways in general; they and their interchanges are a wasteful endeavor.

From the South / North :

Well the proposals in the Entertainment District far to the west of the main core, like Mirvish (3 towers - plus 280 meters) and Oxford Place (2 towers plus 300 meters) and One Yonge (5 towers - plus 250 meters) will spread things around and break up the pyramid.

Mind you, ICE Condos and Harbour Plaza will bring greater focus to the pyramid in the near term as they bulk up the look right up the middle between Bay and York Streets.


From the East/West :

Aura and One Bloor will take care of the clustering both well over 250 meters and under construction as we speak, plus the existing and only a year or two old Four Seasons Hotel which is 200 meters breaks up the core pyramid from Etobicoke or the Don Valley Ravine view. Plus the smaller towers but still prominent, U Conods (184 meters) and Five Condos (161 meters) and Karma Condos (167 Meters) all under construction.


Best of both worlds for those that like or despise the pyramid look of the skyline.

Well its slated to be demolished so hopefully the replacement will be better.

It may not have been wasteful if it was still above the railyard, but that doesn't mean it isn't wasteful now that the rails are mostly gone. For the amount of land in such a central area to be occupied by nothing but a lose arrangements of access ramps cannot be construed as anything but.

Those Vancouver shots are quite impressive! They get 3-4 700+ footers in the future, and it'll really be a stunner!

Yeah, if Vancouver had a couple of 200 meter plus towers, I would place their skyline after Toronto on my personal ranking, even though Calgary has a new 250 meter tower under construction. Its not just the buildings, Vancouver has a beautiful setting, which gives it points over Toronto especially and Calgary too a much lesser degree.

Toronto has a beautiful setting, situated right on the lake. Especially taking night shots from the island, with the reflection of the lights onto the water, makes Toronto look almost magical. One of the most photogenic and impressive skylines in the world IMO and only destined to get better with the addition of Harbour Plaza/One York, Ten York, and the Cityplace Signature Towers.

Yes because there's nothing like living near the busiest interchange in the country where 300 000 vehicules are passing every day. You are romanticising an urban nightmare that may look cool for the Lonely Planet crowd, but no so much for those who are living there.
