A lot of interesting possibilities in that document. I do hope they have as many of the East End routes as possible at least continue through to the end of Oakland--transfers on or before the eastern end of Oakland would be ridership killers.

Incidentally, there is also a discussion of Downtown routing in that document. That confirms what was pointed out in this article, which is that this whole "bus free Downtown" brouhaha has been a garbled version of what they have actually been studying:

Glad that duck is leaving. Was tired of seeing it on every other post on Facebook, plus it's downright ugly.

Those "idiots" were injecting downtown businesses with wads of cash. Downtown has been at "peak vibrancy" ever since the duck arrived.

Yeah, Downtown should go back to being a deserted wasteland during evenings and weekends. That was so much better. All those people spending money in local stores and restaurants; who wants that?

I went over to Market Square to look for something to eat last night and, being a native Pittsburgher, I was half-expecting it all to be closed. Even though I'm always trying to dispel the notion in other Pittsburghers' heads that Downtown is no longer so desolate, even I still forget just how true it is. Every restaurant was PACKED on a SUNDAY at 9:00. To someone from another city, that may sound unremarkable, but it is seriously hard to get used to around here. In a really, REALLY good way.

If that duck gets people to come downtown to spend money, long live the duck. I can attest to the fascination with the duck. Here in New York I saw numerous television reports about the thing. More media buzz here for the duck than for the Pirates. And more than a few friend who knew I am from Pittsburgh told me about it. I don't get it but if it works I am all for it.

I totally agree. The duck definitely brought a huge number of people downtown, especially on weekends, who wouldn't have otherwise likely been there. I'm actually quite sad to see it go!

Our seven year old was not impressed, but our two year old seemed to enjoy it. I was a bit disappointed that it looked kinda flimsy in person.

But holding all that aside, it was clearly great for the city.

Agreed... Downtown was kicking before the duck... but the duck took things to a level I have never seen before. That duck was like 10 Kenny Chesney concerts.

Well obviously but complaining that a attraction meant to attract big crowds successfully managed to attract those crowds seems a little mean spirited. This was a big win for the city, can't we just be happy with that?

My disdain for the duck comes purely from an artistic standpoint. Please don't get worked up over it. I'm really glad it was a huge economic success, I just don't quite get the attraction myself.

Yeah, but no one is paying cash. I heard the tourists kept telling shop keepers to "put it on their bill".
