That's a great pano of Calgary. With all the pomo highrises the city looks almost like a Dubai on the Prairie.

Yeah, I never thought we had that many Pomo buildings. There's the Banker's Hall twins and that's about it. I wish we had more. Overall Calgary's main core is mostly boxy modern stuff. And wouldn't Dubai's fall into a different category as most were built within the last decade?

Straight laced Calgary could never be as wacky as Dubai. In some ways that's a good thing cause Dubai has a lot of tacky shit. But in others I'm always disappointed we don't do something more daring with all the oil money in this city. The Bow is the closest we've come so far, and they neutered a good portion of it.

O-tacular: Strait-laced Calgary can't be like Dubai eh.... How about 3EC, Tellus.... that's the stuff you'd see in Dubai! I wish we had something like Trump Tower Vancouver.

There are at least a dozen condo highrises on that pic with faux chateau top that falls into the pomo or semi-pomo style. They are not as dominant in the skyline as are the giant office buildings, but if you enlarge the pano and watch it full screen from one end to the other, yes, you notice them well enough. Also the Dubai reference, not meant to be taken so seriously, refered to the concentration of towers in the core with a flat skyline and landscape right outside the core.
