The global centre of skyscrapers and architecture that is Trinidad & Tobago! You need to hop back on a plane if that's all you found on your worldwide travels. You also need to pick up an almanac. Port of Spain is in north America.

The point I was countering was that Toronto's skyline was somehow superior in the past to what it has now. There is no world or continent (NA or otherwise) in which this is the case

Personally I wish the Royal York, Commerce Court North and Royal Bank Plaza weren't blocked from view now, but I'm not going to halt development just to save one angle of the downtown skyline.

I do wish Harbour Square would be knocked down though (the Westin can stay). It literally creates a concrete wall blocking the city from the Waterfront, and causes a break in what could be a continuous boardwalk/public waterfront area.

There is a continuous public space along the waterfront, the only break is the piers themselves.

Just the background surroundings lack interest.

They're condos so as long as the owners pay for the upkeep of their homes, there's no reason Harbour Square can't last indefinitely. I'm afraid we're stuck with it.

Is there not a plan to re-do Harbour Square at street-level at least? Though I imagine getting the funds to do so would not be easy as it would fall on the condo owners.

The buildings are supposed to be quite nice from inside. I'd actually rather have a condo from that era as opposed to a brand new one.

To buy out Harbour Square would cost 1.2 to 1.4 billion dollars which doesn't include the 877 room hotel.

I don't mind the 1970s resort like feel. I could do without the open parking garage and 1990s addition. I don't find One York Quay bad but, it extends the block past a point which I think is comfortable. Imagine if the 70s plan was fully realized. I believe another 4 taller Harbour Squares were included.

Not to mention that many of the owners have a permanent, unobstructed view of the lake. They're not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Im posting comparison shots as I find the vantage point for these two shots to be quite similar. And yes, comments like "look at how small the calgary tower is." are fine.
