and the punches keep on coming.. I wonder how close we are to seeing the redesigned 50 Bloor now as well. They went back to the drawing board to work with surrounding developers to create a cohesive plan for the block. It will be very interesting that is for sure.

Hold on....

80 Bloor West is the building across the street, with the Davids and Goodlife Fitness

We could be looking at four 250 meter towers within a block of one another.

That'll be right next to the 909 ft. Holt Renfrew tower. Why come out with such a proposal now? I thought the condo market is presently the weakest it has been in a decade.

AAA locations and projects still sell extremely well, as has been proven with Harbour Plaza.

It's been a while since the last giant. Interesting that it's on the west side of Bay and replaces a roughly 20 storey office tower. I could see a long process here.

The process for this condo probably started before the condo market soften.

Right, weakest in a long-time but will still sell between 8,000 and 9,000 new condo units this year.

For comparison, Chicago at it's peak (2005 to 2007) averaged about 6,500 units per year, Miami averaged about 7,500 units per year during it's boom (2001 to 2007).

8,000 units is nothing to sneeze at; though I'm not as optimistic about 2014.

The retail alone is worth the price of admission.

These guys must be moving fast because there is movement at Cumberland and 50 Bloor

Wow!! Wow!

$11Million per year in retail leases helps but probably not enough to make it worth building a condo unless you believe you can rent/sell the units.

Actually, I wonder if it will be a luxury rental rather than a condo. The Minto building one block north has pretty low vacancy rates.

In another other city in the land, Yorkville is the downtown core.

I forgot about the Minto Proposal..... 237 meters and baby brother. I wonder of all these towers end up as rentals....

We need to sell more as our market tends to be much smaller units and therefore more units per floor, per building.

I would wager rental towers will be built but, none approaching anywhere near 200 metres.

It seems like a waste of potential density to me not to build a 200 metre tower on any plot of land that happens to be near Yonge & Bloor. Surely if 2 Queen West can succeed at Yonge & Queen, something of a similar scale could be succeed at Yonge & Bloor, no?

2 Queen is but a piece of paper. Define Yonge & Bloor. I see few sites where building 200 metres is necessary. It's quicker and easier to finance smaller rental properties. Easier to flip it too if rental targets aren't met.

So many potential projects in the Bloor area. I wonder which ones will actually transpire over the coming years. The CASA towers are selling very well, CASA III is over 200m. Plus all these other ones too... if everything that's been proposed ends up getting built that whole area will feel like another city in itself. It will be interesting to watch.

CASA III will happen. Sales were mediocre, not the complete sell out that previous CASAs were, but it will still go through.
