Arena district will have a new tallest, AIMCO will be and another 1-2 in planning, but more density than height, which is ok with me.

I doubt that will ever change. There is no political will in Vancouver to build taller, and any time Edmonton booms so does Calgary so I don't see Edmonton closing the already existing gap.
I suspect we will see a building once again taller in Edmonton than Calgary, but overall Calgary will generally build more and taller buildings.

Edmonton consistently has had ten times the number of high rise proposals on the go compared what got built. I know the number for towers under construction is rapidly reaching or has even surpassed the peak during that time but, question if it can be sustained. There's a lot of inventory that will come only in the next few years. Preselling isn't the customary course of action there.
I suspect we will see a building once again taller in Edmonton than Calgary, but overall Calgary will generally build more and taller buildings.

This sounds about right. I can definitely see Edmonton building the tallest residential tower or something, just for bragging rights. How long has it been since Edmonton had the tallest building in the province? probably the CN tower...
