I'd guess more than spilled beer was found during the site survey.
I'd say you are right.

My pic

Assuming those are what used to be windows, perhaps the ground has been raised at some point?

^ maybe this is what was holding the BP/DP up and the DSSP from being issues .. Makes sense

I'm guess once all that is removed we'll start seeing a lot more digging, and then up we go!

Would they need to get a demolition permit to remove old foundations? I have my doubts that they would...

So cool! Bring in the Archaeologists!

PS, if you want to see ruins, swing by 12th Ave and 6th St SE.

PPS, there are some pretty cool real archaeological sites all around the city: Nose Hill (Tipi rings, tool-making stations, stone cairns, bone beds), Valley Ridge (a buffalo jump unearthed by flooding in 2005), Paskapoo Slopes (buffalo bones, beads, fireplaces), Fish Creek (more bones, arrow heads), Weaselhead (arrow heads, bones)

Those are the Rundle Ruins, another manufactured "ruins" even though they are from an old building, they were purposely left in that state.

I believe it was technically the 2nd general hospital, but the 1st was just a converted house or something on 7th ave near the crack macs.

It's interesting to see all of the foundations and stuff that were just covered up. Another example was the giant gas tank foundation under the old Gas Lamp (Light?) Square strip mall (can't remember the name of the new development there now). Since we tend to completely remove old buildings now I can't see future generations having the same experience with the buildings we build now, but it's cool to see the old ones.

Nolan Hill or something I think. Soon to be another one south of Walden called Legacy or some —. Yeah, nothing leaves a legacy better than fake ruins in a modern suburb. Or perhaps it's just foreshadowing the future of said — community.

I know I've posted this before but here's something I found after the flood of 2005 in Fish Creek.

Ruination?

The funny part being that most of the cheap — we build today won't even survive to 100 years.

Yup, that's a human jaw. Unusual curve on the symphysis and mental protuberance.
