I love it. And encourage Edmonton to build it!

Everytime I visit Edmonton I'm blown away by their skyline. Dense, long and full of colours. Very modern, and very PoMo.

And now it's going to become very interesting.

I don't know how that could be construed as a strange thing to say. Edmonton should aspire to build a nice building as its first tower over 150 meters, not a plain condo with a red stripe. It's a decent/nice condo, but certainly not "tallest icon" material.

That new render of KR is great! It's going to be a great addition to the core, right next to the current tallest too! I'll take a photo update when I'm there this weekend.

Love 9955 but that red condo thing is just awful at that height. Edmonton deserves much better for a landmark building.

Height for the sake of height isn't worth it in the long run.

It almost seems like developers between the cities of the country almost formulate when to release renders; One city has a spurt of releases, then a week or two later another city does, and so on. Keeps things interesting

Edmonton wouldn't be seeing renderings like the new Edmontonian if we hadn't shut down the municipal airport. I expect to see more proposals for tall buildings in the future.

That is a bad idea, isn't it? Either way, still cool! More towers around Yonge and Dundas Square is always a good thing in my books!

I like the top 50% or so of this tower, but the podium looks too boxy and tacked on to me. I think they need to relate it more to the section above, create a better transition from box to cylinder. It might also help if they carried that textured cladding that is on the podium up those beige walls above.

I'm no architect but something about that podium just looks awkward. Other than that I like the height, the red elements, and the cladding material on the podium. I would agree with some others here that for a signature tower (height-wise) it should have a much better design overall. It's far from iconic.

Are all of these essentially guaranteed to be taller than the current tallest? Would be impressive to have a new tallest top 3. Lots to look forward to in Edmonton the next few years.
