I doubt this would have one, but I think we need another spire, a real spire to top the skyline. The flat topped 432 Park is enough of that.

I think these 3 towers are close enough to be seen as a trinity, they'll work together as a group. The first two give us nice, distinctive marks on the skyline above a sea of boxes.
I think the tallest towers should.

This is crazy! I can't believe all this happened since the last time i logged on. I would've went to that meeting. Guess it wouldn't let the Steinway tower have its day lol. This has to be one of the most exciting days on this forum! By the way I'm with NYGuy when it comes to the spire, if u wanna be in the conversation with the ESB and the Chryslers as the next big thing in NYC, you need yourself a spire.

Well, I totally think your right about that. All three towers are going to make a killer combo. I hope developers purpose a few more glass supertalls closer to 432 Park, on the other side of Central Park. It would be cool to have a wall of supertalls 1,000-1,500 feet all along there(all different and unique designs, of course.)

Sure, if you're standing directly north. I rarely see skyscrapers that way. And from the south they aren't flat looking at all.

Overall the important thing is that this tower is moving forward, and should be under construction within a matter of months. There's a lot to digest with all of the skyscrapers in the works. It should keep us busy for the next few years, to a decade or so as other towers kick off after these near final stages of construction.

I haven't seen a render yet, but the descriptions are paving the way for another interpretation of a box. The height is nice, but won't be noticeably taller than 432 park.


With all the talk about huge heights and iconic design, I'm thinking this may be disappointing for someone like me who had really high expectations.

So far, I'm thinking that 107 & 111 is going to be the iconic tower of central park. It won't be a great deal shorter than this tower so it should stand out nicely.

Not quite. We're talking about a 73 ft height difference . They'll likely be rising together, but I believe 111 will top out first. It will be exciting to watch and document this.

If anything, what might be construed as a lack of enthusiasm could be either guarded optimism or having to sit through any buttpipe NIMBY claptrap during the meeting. Both guesses IMO are equally valid.

But wasn't 111's height finalized at 1300' to the top design element? That'd be a 123' diff.
