Construction on the three office towers and a major transit station is in the early stages. The mall is scheduled to open in 2015, when the Apple store would open.

Cool. This would be the closest one to me in Jersey City. I had to go yesterday for a broken button on my iPhone, and the closest right now is by taking the PATH to 14th and walking 3 long blocks. This would be much quicker.

Anyone know what's being constructed on the ground just north of the museum?? I see white beams. Sorry...I'm unable to do a screen shot.

That is an awning to go over the north entrance, the rectangular frames on the top will hold the glass panes.

I was thinking the same thing... Looks like H.R. Giger designed it.

I love it - especially the indirect lighting. Can't wait to see it in person.

Fascinating. Only three or four people of different ethnicities, no one using a cellphone, not one woman is carrying a purse, no man is carrying anything at all and only two shopping bags and both are on the ground beside the people chatting.

If I were Penn Station, I would have started to feel embarrassed 25 years ago.

To be fair though, it's more of the Dolan's fault than anything. Hopefully Penn will be remade with Manhattan West and Hudson Yards in mind...

The destruction of Penn station is undoubtedly the greatest architectural vandalism New York has ever seen (I'm obviously not including the WTC attacks in that statement, since those were of a much different nature). Nothing they can do to restore Penn station will rival what it once was. And I hate The Garden. What a blight.

Can't wait until the transit hub and museum are finished and the damn fencing comes down. I want this site to become fully integrated with the rest of the NYC landscape.
