The Pinnacle Pier development is a good example of going overboard with a historical theme of the neighbourhood if anything. Sounds like you haven't seen it up close.
I have it in my avatar because it's the most recognizable landmark in my area, not because I particularly like that development. I think they screwed it up pretty badly.
But I'll still take the nicer modern towers on the west side of Lonsdale over corny themes any day.
I don't want to be the dleung of this development though. I think any development in this area is a good thing. If some people want their place to look like a container stack, good on them.
