It's really not that bad, but I see what you mean. It looks like something Edmonton would have built 5 years ago.

Prince Arthur's Landing - Thunder Bay, Ontario

The two condos are well underway, with the hotel tower awaiting construction.

The condos

Ha! It looks like a Langham Developments 2002 ripoff of the the Aqua condo in Chicago.

I feel sorry for the people to the south east. That wavy mess is rather unpleasant. The other side is fairly clean though.

It still has some nice old buildings and more of a blue collar feel.

It used to be run-down but it is starting to become desirable since it is relatively cheap and has the ferry. There are actually a bunch of new highrises planned. I could see it being a pretty attractive neighbourhood someday, once it (re)develops a good mix of businesses and amenities.
I actually spent an hour walking around re-discovering some of the central parts of town last week and my god there are some gorgeous neighbourhoods. The northern urban nabes are definitely more working-class feeling, but the southerns/eastern areas around Pleasant, Portland, Sullivans Pond, etc, are filled with these old, tightly packed Victoria-era and early 20th Century houses with lush foliage and most look very well maintained. Reminded me in a way of S. End Hfx except didn't have the bustling, central vibe since it lacked things like Universities and hospitals.

If only we could get the car-culture tamed a bit we'd be all set.

Here's the previously known view from the south-east for comparison.
I actually kind of like that building. It seems to be going for the "futuristic POMO" vide that i
I rather enjoy. This approach to POMO seems common in Australian and Eastern Asia, but less so in NA, where POMO tends to mean retro-references. I
And it doesn't have the conspicuously cheap vibe of spandrel-covered glass condos (such as ROCP) and in fact doesn't actually all that condo-like. It gives more of a solid, institutional vibe like a hospital or something. And even though the design may seem a little busy, the simplicity of the white helps calm things a little.

Definitely! I can't believe they have a 110 meter tower planned for in the village, I always thought it was all going to be short stuff like Verve!

Fuze and First are about 70 meters each, both UC right now. Hopefully Evolution 2 (110 meters) and Verve fit in with them well! Could end up being a very nice cluster of high rises.

That isn't too bad a proposal for EV. I hope though the area gets some taller residential buildings... What ever happened to Lamb's project?

The back looks better! At least the back doesn't try to grab attention like the front. I mean, they both are badly designed, but the back is better as it will be more "quiet.

One from Hull, Québec between St-Joseph and the RapiBus (BRT) line, about 5 minutes drive to downtown Ottawa. Nine storey class A office building with cheaper rents than OT's class B buildings in the CBD.

A very interesting high-density proposal for Saskatoon. It was recently approved by the city!

No doubt. Saskatoon never ceases to amaze me. They think as forward as cities 3 or 4 times their size.

Unless I've overlooked something, I don't think anybody has posted these new office tower proposals for Vancouver in this thread...
